OpenSUSE Hardware :: Unable To Get HP Psc 1315 (all-in-one) To Print
Apr 18, 2010
I'm having problems with my HP psc 1315 (all-in-one) I'm unable to get it to print. it was working just fine but one day i got an up date and now it has stop working all together...it appears to be a driver problem. but I'm not 100% sure.i have open suse 11.0-64x2 amd if that helps. i deleted my printer and reinstalled one but i still get a printer stopped message when i open up my manager.if I'm not root then i can not change the stop to resume.but it still kicks me out and stops the section?
I'm posting here because I'm having trouble setting up by HP PSC 1315 printer scanner copier machine. I believe I have the proper drivers already installed. However, nothing happens when I try printing a test page. Also when I try printing a web page, it goes through the motions. Then I get an error message saying the computer can't recognize the printer.
I'm trying to connect my HP PSC 1315 printer scanner copier to my laptop, where I'm using Ubuntu Hardy. I checked my synaptic package manager. It appears I have HLIP and the other drivers already installed. However, I'm unable to print a thing. Nothing happens when I try printing a test page. When I try to print a regular web page, I get an error message saying the psc 1310 is not connected.
My wife has a canon MP470 printer and running ubuntu 10.10. I am able to print black and white, but unable to print photos. I got it to work using another driver, but not the 'correct' one for this printer. I have searched a bit and don't see anything about ubuntu 10.10, just older versions. Or should I just network her to my printer....?
I switched recently to Konqueror and Kmail. Kmail works just fine and i am happy with it.There are, however, some minor issues with Konqueror. Example one. Printing works sometimes, sometimes not. I was unable to print a coupon out for a free exam for a vet. Also, if i go ....., it doesn't play the video. Plugins are there, so in theory it should work. Right now, this is under KDE 4.4.4 and Konqueror same. Haven't checked if thats actually a common bug.
I have researched this particular problem for a couple of days now, and have explored some of the suggested solutions without success, other than learning much more about Linux. I am hoping someone can offer some good advice.I am working on a kiosk right now and as part of the application, I need to disable the Print Screen keyboard button. I have used 'xmodmap' to map keycode 111 to NoSymbol, but that is not stopping the Snapshot dialog from appearing. I am using OpenSuSE 10.3 with a GNOME desktop on an IBM PC with a Logitech USB keyboard. I have tried swapping the keyboard with a PS/2 keyboard to see if that was the problem, but it was not.
The strange thing is that when I use VNC 4.1.3 Free Edition to remote into this system from another IBM PC (Windows XP Pro OS), I am able to use the xmodmap -e "keycode 111 =NoSymbol" command to successfully prevent the Snapshot dialog from appearing. Is there some kind of keyboard mapping override or shortcut mapping going on here when I am logged into the Linux box locally, but is not happening remotely?
I have a Windows print server (Win XP SP2) and a 1 opensuse client. I have setup cups as per the following document:
Printer Sharing: Windows Print Server for Suse/openSUSE Linux Clients [Samba and LPD]
I am not using Samba. The setup went fine, but I am not able to print to it. There are other clients (all Windows) that are printing fine to this print server. The following is what I see in the /var/log/cups/error_log:
[Job 3] recoverable: Unable to connect to printer; will retry in 30 seconds...
I am using DHCP in this LAN. Ping is working fine (client's hosts file updated with the print server's ip address.). This looks like a networking issue.
the remote printer appears in cups but if I try to do a test page i get a page not found error. it even says ready under yast printers.it is set up on a remote desktop using cups
After installing Fedora 12 my printer Samsung clp 310 doesn't print. When trying to print SELinux prevents printing. Changed SELinx to disabled didn't help, it still doesn't print. In 11 it worked just fine.
After adding a remote IP printer ,the printer print successfully the test page, but when i tried to do :lp -dprintername filename the following error occured:
unable to print file: client-error-document-format-not-supported - msg
I am currently attempting to attach my printer to my fresh Debian installation and get CUPS running with it. I was able to add the printer easily enough, but when I try and print a test page from the web interface, it fails, and I see the following in the log.
Code: Select allD [08/Apr/2015:21:31:45 -0700] [Job 6] PPD uses qualifier 'Gray.OFF.600dpi' D [08/Apr/2015:21:31:45 -0700] [Job 6] Calling FindDeviceById(Samsung_ML-1710) D [08/Apr/2015:21:31:45 -0700] [Job 6] Failed to send: org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown:The name org.freedesktop.ColorManager was not provided by any .service files D [08/Apr/2015:21:31:45 -0700] [Job 6] Failed to get profile filename!
I have just purchased a brand new Brother printer MFC-250C which includes a fax/copier/scanner but mostly its for printing photos however Ubunto 10.4 does not recognize this model! (it works perfectly over on my other partition with windows7 using the setup disk for Brother). I have installed everything related to Brother from Synaptic and searched the Brother web site for any drivers relating to this model and have even tried installing from Synaptic MFC-240C drivers in case they may work (no 250c available in synaptic) selecting PRINT for instance in Fspot my printer receives information for the photo but does not commence printing ..the same applies working in Gimp Gutenprint.
I'm having trouble printing on my Brother MFC-8640D printer. I've tried both Ubuntu 10.04 and 10.10, neither of which work reliably although a page will occasionally print. I can print just fine from my dual-booted Windows 7 installation. Thunderbird seems to always print OK, OpenOffice writer prints sometimes, other programs don't print at all or are inconsistent.
i am unable to print specific pages in Ubuntu. i connected my HP Desk jet F2120 printer to my Ubuntu machine and it installed correctly but now if i want to print only the certain pages from a word document or PDFs i am unable to print it. there is a option of pages in print menu which says : " example 1-3,7,11" i don't know what that means.
I am able to print from Open Office just fine, but if I attempt to print a PDF or if I attempt to print directly from the internet, I get nothing! So instead I have to open the openoffice and copy the internet stuff to a page in there so it will print.Do any of you have an idea of what can be the cause.I am a linux noobie, so I may be the problem, however it is frustrating putting PDF's on flash drive and getting my son to bring his windoze laptop in so that I can print my PDF.
Im trying to set up a print server using Fedora 12 and CUPS.
It recognized the printer, and i can print from the linux box. When i try to install it on my Win 7 64-bit box i can install the printer itself by giving it the IP address and port number of the linux box but i cant sent anything to it to print. I apologize im a little rough on the details, im not at home right now. I believe the printer i have is a HP PSC 1500. I opened the cups port on the linux firewall, and i shared the printer through the cups admin browser page.
I recently installed 10.04 and unable to print to local or network printer?
When I go to System Admin/Printing to add my printers, screen says I am not connected to localhost and I am unable to use Add printer. When I used version 9.10, I added a network + a local printer by this method but I'm not sure what I have done wrong this time around.
I live in Japan and am trying to print to a network printer (Richo Ipsio C411 PS). Couldn't find the ppd in the foomatic database. At my previous school, I had no problems printing to the printers on the network once I found the ppd. A few months ago, I transfered to a new site. Unfortunately, when I send a print job on the network here, the printer just gives a Japanese message that says "command error." I've tried other printers on the network (all different models of the Ipsio).
I went to the Japanese Ricoh website and it recommended a generic printer ppd. I downloaded that, but it didn't work. Then I got the ppd off of the windows driver CD and tried that. Again, no success. I have no idea what I'm doing (obvious, but should be noted) or how to get this started. I also tried 2 versions of Ubuntu -- I'm running 8.04 and 10.04.
I am unable to print from Wine applications (including Notepad) because Wine thinks I have no printers installed. I have a network printer and print-to-file both working fine in normal KDE applications. I did some looking around and found the following:http://www.witch.westfalen.de/Wine-H...intconfig.html This is very old, and probably very out of date. I also had trouble following the examples. In any case I don't have anything called winerc or wine.conf. I just have a .wine directory. Supposedly I should have registry keys for printers in Wine, so I looked where those are supposed to be. I have two keys in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESystemCurrentControlSetContro lPrintPrinters: (Default) and DefaultSpoolDirectory. Perhaps if I added the right key here I could get Wine to notice CUPS? I wouldn't begin to know what to put though. http://www.winehq.org/docs/wineusr-g...s-to-configure claims that Wine should "just work" with CUPS. So much for that. It also says that if it doesn't work with CUPS it falls back to look in /etc/printcap. I have one of those, but it doesn't contain anything except the default comment telling me not to edit the file. Maybe if there's a way to regenerate /etc/printcap to contain the printers that show up in KDE, Wine would notice. Again, I have no clue how to do that. I'm running Kubuntu 10.10 x64, and I'm using Wine 1.2, not Wine 1.0. All my packages are completely up to date.
I am unable to print on my Brother mcf 440cn printer. Every thing was working ok, today I finished some work in Open Office and could not print the saved file. I get an error unable to print msg. my printer is no longer recognized on the system. I reinstalled the driver no luck. I tested the printer with Windooze and every thing works fine
Trying to find my way around I have an epson px720 all in one printer. It will print ok but unable to use the scanner function I have tried iscan but with no success.
Running Ubuntu 10.10, when trying to print to canon 1800 print file is created, spooled to printer but does not print. Job appears in print Q and ends as finished job, next job number increases correctly. Printer light flashes to indicate data in,, but nothing out on paper !! (printer works fine on "the Other" OS!
I am running Ubuntu 10.04. I am trying to print on a Lexmark 9300 series printer connected to a Windows XP machine. I am able to print on an HP Laserjet 5P printer connected to a Windows 7 machine just fine.
I use a network printer (HP Laserjet 1300n). Since a few days ago I couldn't print anything, the error message is 'Unable to write print data:Broken pipe'. What could be wrong? I replaced the cartridge recently, but nothing else.
