OpenSUSE Hardware :: Logitec ClearChat Stereo Headset Mic Not Working

Dec 29, 2009

I just bought a ClearChat Stereo and trying to use it on Skype but no luck. Sound is working fine but not the microphone. I just can't get the microphone to work even without the headset. Everything in Kmix is turned up to max and nothing is muted.

I deleted Pulse Audia and am using ALSA because I thought that that was the problem but that still doesn't help. I have an ASUS Notebook but my brother is having the same problem with with an older Thinkpad. Using KDE 4.3 on openSuse 11.2. I have tried all the devices within Skype (microphone) but none of them works.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: No Sound From Logitech ClearChat Steroe Headset?

There are 2 jacks at the front of the computer, one for mic, the other for headphones. I plug them in, and I can't hear any sound. Have checked all sorts of documents and settings for pulseaudio and ALSA. If I play a sound file, the Pulseaudio meters are showing that there is sound, but I cannot hear anything. Have checked the obvious, nothing is on mute. Here are the results of some commands ..

OpenSUSE Hardware :: Logitech Clearchat Comfort Headphone?

Apr 30, 2010

Before you think, someone posted on this already, give me a chance. I've looked that other guys who posted with this type of headphones last year and earlier this year. By upgrading to the new Kernel, fixed it automatically. The thing is, none of them mentioned if mic worked. I want to purchase it but don't want waste my money. (fairly expensive where I am)

Any input before I buy let me know. I really prefer USB now as I always lose my headphones to do the cable going bad all the time. USB tends to be more sturdier IMHO. Of course I could be wrong Just check my signature for my laptop to know the specs.

OpenSUSE Hardware :: Logitech ClearChat Pro USB Annihilated Volume Control?

Dec 25, 2009

I am currently using openSUSE 11.2, and I just got a Logitech Clearchat Pro USB headset for Christmas. Like the average Linux n00b, I just plugged it in and hoped it would work like normal. Well, at first it did work, but the volume was very quiet. The headset also controlled the system's volume controls (pressing up/down on the right headset would raise/lower the volume on the system itself, not the headset). So I went to YasT2. Added the headset as a second sound card. Configured the volume.

However, I noticed now the volume icon on the System Tray has completely disappeared. Pressing up/down on my keyboard's vol. controls no longer works, nor my laptop's built-in volume dial. Did I completely destroy any chance of changing the volume from outside of YasT2? I set it to "auto config" the Logitech headset, I thought it was safe since it recognized it as the right 'set. Someone, please help me. I'm sure you all know how much of a hassle it is to open YasT2, type in the root password, and configure your sound card just to change the volume.

I just held down the volume up again on the headset, and all of a sudden my cursor just started shaking like an earthquake passed by, and I could see the blue highlight around the form flicker.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Nvidia GT210 Sound Only In Stereo And Couldn't Get It Working In XBMC

Jun 7, 2011

I am at the end of my tether in trying to get sound setup on my Ubuntu installation. I have tried many different 'fixes' that people have suggested, but none seem to work!

My setup is as follows:
> HP Proliant Microserver
> Ubuntu 10.10
> Zotac GT210 card
> HDMI from GFX card to AV amp
> 5GB Ram

What I want to be able to do is:

> Play music from FLAC files I have ripped in either stereo or sudo 5.1
> Play DVD iso files that I have ripped in the audio format found on the original discs (DTS etc)

I have managed to get sound working before, but only in stereo and I couldn't get it working in XBMC (not the sound from the main movie I chose anyway). I have since completely broken the sound after trying various things found on the interweb and cannot get it back.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Ubuntu Won't Let Stereo USB Microphone Record In Stereo

May 19, 2011

I'm using a CAD u37 usb condenser microphone for some semi-pro voiceover work. My clients insist on stereo audio. On my windows machine, my mic works just fine, but it's not in very very good place for recording (a bit too echoey). So I thought I'd use my netbook running ubuntu.I can plug my mic in, and it does record sound, but there is no available sound profile that allows me to just have two-channels of input. Can I install a driver or edit a file somewhere that lets me have stereo input?

When I go to the output tab and click on the "USB PnP Sound Device" then I just can't hear anything at all. I can adjust the volume with my headset regardless of whether I have "Internal Audio Analog Stereo" or "USB PnP Sound Device

Slackware :: USB Headset - Volume Control On Them Stopped Working - Sound Works - Microphone Doesn't

Oct 29, 2010

When I started using Slackware I've been using USB headset. Everything ran perfectly fine. They got recognized, I could use all of it's functions and so on. Unfortunately volume control on them stopped working so I had to service them, and like in every third world country, yay I need to wait minimum three weeks just so they can press a button and say "Yup, they don't work".

I bought normal headset to use them while other one is getting fixed, and didn't expect any problems with them considering they are "old" technology, normal audio input and output.

Now problem is following, sound works fine but microphone doesn't. Once I managed to "fix" it by switching audio input from mic to something else and then back to mic, now even that doesn't work. Another... "problem" is if I leave my USB webcam plugged in while booting computer, there is no sound at all, ether on line ones or USB ones but I can easily solve that problem by unplugging webcam, rebooting and plugging it back in later.

Now everything ran fine until my computer shutdown while I was sleeping. Don't know why, but it started happening recently, don't see anything smart in logs so I assume its... something, read it could be cache, HDD, temperature and so on but since logs don't write down anything smart... will deal with it some other time.

When I talk I can actually hear myself on the headset, which probably means that they work. If I put mic boost all the way up, I can hear myself perfectly clear, but somehow... seems that that information just doesn't get to Slackware, well it gets somewhat considering that it reacts to me adjusting mic boost on KMix, but everything else... no.

Arecord doesn't record anything, TS register as microphone isn't plugged in at all, skype doesn't get any input ether.

OpenSUSE Multimedia :: Make The Mic To Work On 11.3 X64 (it's A Headset's Mic)

Jul 8, 2011

I was trying to make the mic to work on openSUSE 11.3 x64 (it's a headset's mic). At the beginning I thought it was just a mater of plugging the mic on, as it's the earphones'case, but didn't work. Then I found this link: Skype, KDE4, OpenSUSE 11.3 and PulseAudio Doesn't sound bad, but I also use Wine and Pulseaudio is said to be not compatible with it.

So, if Pulseaudio is enabled with setup-pulseaudio --enable, how do I disable it should I find problems with Wine? Is Pulseaudio really needed to make the mic to work, or it depends on what I want to use it for?

Debian :: Realtek ALC662, No Stereo Mix?

Feb 3, 2010

I'd like to capture streaming audio. Installed Audacity but the mixer toolbar doesn't show a mix or stereo mix dropdown option. So, there's no capture possible. It's not a hardware issue because I do get the stereo mix option in Windows Vista (this is a dual-boot PC). I've spent hours reading about this and there's lots of folks talking, but no solution that I can find. It must have something to do with how ALSA manipulates this particular hardware. I had Fedora 10 installed and had the same problem with it. At this point, it's the only reason I have left for keeping Vista. Note: I have an ancient IBM T23 with Fedora and Audacity. Stereo mix IS an option in the mixer dropdown menu; I can record ok. I'm not going to take the patch cord route (line out to mic in etc) because then I can't hear what's being recorded. And there's got to be an impedance problem that would impair the quality. Maybe someone who's solved this will read my post and comment. No going to hold my breath.

Debian Multimedia :: Using X To Control Home Stereo

Apr 26, 2015

I have a home media server that usually is running headless, as its only display is our TV. For the last year or so, I've used it as a component in our stereo, running Banshee via tunneling x to a server on either my phone or another computer via ssh. Please note I know that X doesn't handle sound, the idea is that the remote computer controls the media center which is hard-wired into our speakers.

This has worked great with Wheezy for about a year, and for several months with Jessie (up to like the end of February) when I started to have general sound issues with my install. I spent a few months running Ubuntu and now that Jessie's released I re-installed it last night.

Banshee runs great on the local X server- no issues. It also runs acceptably under XServer XSDL on my phone (it won't continue playing songs after the current song ends, unless I re open the X server app and then it sort of wakes up.) But when I try and log in from a remote computer (either another Jessie computer or Ubuntu 14.04.2) it says it's playing but no sound.

Here's what it's saying in the terminal on the Ubuntu computer while it's trying to start playing on the media computer

Code: Select all[Warn  09:39:01.506] DBus support could not be started. Disabling for this session. -
System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object (in `dbus-sharp-glib')

  at Banshee.ServiceStack.DBusConnection.Connect (System.String serviceName, Boolean init) [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0

[Code] ......

This install is running the released Debian 8.0.0 and has the MATE desktop. I really don't have a choice other than Banshee because the majority of my library is encoded as .ogg files and all the metadata is saved in banshee.db as opposed to in the files.
