According to the Aircrack-ng site, they support packet injection and monitor mode. Is master mode support solely up to the driver used with the card, or does the card have to physically support it?
View 2 Replies View Relatedam running Ubuntu 10.04 ... only because for some reason that is the only version that will load onto my IBM pentium 4 desktop! I installed ndisgtk, ndiswrapper-common and ndiswrapper-utils-1.9 by using the Synaptic Package Manager GUI. Using Windows Wireless Drivers GUI, I installed the driver rt 2870 off the Belkin CD that came with the product. Status is "Hardware present: Yes"
here is the status of my lsusb and iwconfig:

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to get some insight on how to move forward. I have a bit of a problem. I am just starting out in unbuntu and I have no experience working with 2 os on my computer (coming from windows). I have a lot of files (music, pictures, movies) in windows, but I want to use them on unbuntu. Is there a way for me to have both os access those files, or better yet, is there a way to send all my files to unbuntu, so I can start deleting all my stuff in windows? At the moment, I'm planning to burn all my files to dvds (in windows), then just drop them off in unbuntu, but I'd love it if there was a way which didn't involve me burning tons of dvds...Oh yea, and programs too... can I transfer them, or do I need to just reinstall them on unbuntu (like stepmania, guildwars, dvd shrink, kmplayer, etc
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've had this unbuntu for over a year, and have never been able to get ANY of the drives to work. ie; the DVD-r, CD-r, or USB. I've installed all the 'restricted' extras it said it needed. if I open places, then computer, their icons show. but, as soon as I put in a disk or USB device--- their icon disappears, then nothing?? everything did work fine when I had WinXP installed. I've just been using unbuntu for the internet and I'm happy its working great. but, I really wish I could use all the other neat stuff. I really miss using my drives, and having fun with all the other stuff unbuntu offers.

Also I saw something about profile which I haven't setup yet. Would I need to do this?
I have a dell inspiron mini which came with unbuntu 8.04 LTS mini standard edition pre-insatlled and a recovery disk. View 2 Replies View RelatedBeen trying to get itunes going in unbuntu 11.04. Tried gtkpod and it kept crashing when trying to update database. Looked into itunes thru wine. I think I could load it in wine but all my mp3's are on a linux box - ext4. From what I understand, wine will look to a windows partition for the mp3's. I know windows cannot read ext4. All I need itunes for is to load and delete songs on a shuffle ipod. Don't need itunes store, etc so I don't care if that part works or not. Before I go to the trouble of itunes on wine: Is this assumption correct?

I tried on one particion make just for it then I even tried on xp on C: I even put it on a pendrive but my bios is old and do not provide for usb booting. The other thing I have to try is making a boot cd but for one reason or the other , my recorder do not want to recornized my cds- rw and right now I do not have any regular blank cds . That will be my next step. Note: Ubuntu appears installed on the the control panel "add or removed programs" but not in "all programs" list. I'm a novice on this so maybe the answer was posted but I couldn't find it. Looking ahead to try it and be part of the linux team.

If I connect mouse, keyboard directly to usb port they are working but not when connected with usb hub. Present kernel version is 2.6.38.10. Since USB ports are limited so i have to use mouse, keyboard, printer, webcam through usb hub.

I'm new to all of this but read through many threads to do as much as I could myself. I used the GUI to load the rt3070 drivers rather than rpm. The GUI is easier I think and should be equivalent. Please let me know what else I need to do. Fedora has been great on my Lenovo but this usb wlan stuff has been a pain.

I just moved to Linux, and I really need some help for my wireless adapter. What I am using is Belkin F6D4050 v2. I think I should use the rt2870sta driver. After 2 days working, my laptop can recognize the wireless adapter now. But it can not find any wireless connections. There are some information. Hope they are useful.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a new belkin N1 router which I tested in somebody else's flat. It worked fine. When I got home I reset it by pushing a paperclip in the hole for 10+ seconds to erase this flat's internet connection settings (username and password and stuff). After this I plugged it the computer and tried to connect to it (wired connection) using 192.168.2.1 (this is correct for that router, it is not 192.168.0.1). But the browser says it is offline and cannot connect. The lights of the router cycle, the "modem router" light blinks continuously and the others briefly come on and go off again, every few seconds. I tried resetting it again, several times, leaving it off for a few hours, leaving it on for a few hours, etc.

View 9 Replies View RelatedIt worked in 10.04 using ndiswrapper, but the connection was very weak (In Windows, it works perfectly). I blame ndiswrapper and the windows driver for the connection issues. In 10.10 x64, using ndiswrapper does not work. It says hardware present, but iwconfig shows no wlan0 adapter. I downloaded the driver from RealTek's website (rtl8192su) and compiled it. It gave a lot of warnings about integers being out of range, but I ignored them and went on anyway. If you want the exact warnings, I can put them on a pastebin and post the link tonight when I get home from work.
After doing a make install, I plugged in my adapter. As soon as it kicked on, the light on the adapter would blink and the screen would go black with a lone cursor in the top left corner of the screen. The drivers are obviously suspect, since I can make uninstall, plug in the adapter, and continue on with no network.Has anyone gotten this adapter/other adapters with the rtl8192su firmware working in 10.10 using a stock x64 install? It has to be stock or using packages available on the disk since without using the adapter, I have no internet.Maybe I'll try the drivers on 10.04 and see if they're just not compatible with 10.10.
I am having trouble with getting my desktop to connect to my wireless router.

I really am having a problem. I can see wireless networks, but when i try to connect to one, even unsecured, the icon just keeps acting like it is searching for a wifi spot. Im really confused.
I'm having a slight problem with my new wireless card that I purchased. I installed the firmware and the like and it does work, my computer recognizes it and I can search through my available networks, only thing is though.I cannot connect to any of them. I'm fairly sure it's a problem with it obtaining an ip address though.because it does connect briefly and I read the status and it shows no IP address, but when I connect through wired internet all that information is available. I tried setting my network configuration to static and that didn't help at all. I'm only a week into Ubuntu so this is all still fairy confusing for me.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a belkin n150 usb wireless adapter that doesn't seem to work. I have searched for a solution on this and other forums, but the advice is either too confusing/long for my noob brain, or applies to older versions and no longer works.
I am running ubuntu 11.04, the usb device shows up on lsusb so I know it's there, but I can't get it to work. I have installed ndiswrapper and put in the driver from the cd, didn't work. I downloaded the RT2870 linux drivers, tried sudo make and sudo make install and that didn't work (I probably didn't install correctly).
