General :: Install Drivers For Encore ENUWI-N3?

Aug 24, 2010

I am attempting to install drivers for Encore ENUWI-N3. Each step in the READ ME leads me to countless forums and video tutorials, due to my lack of understanding. Here is the READ ME:

1. This driver supports RealTek RTL8169s/8110s Gigabit Ethernet driver for Linux kernel 2.4.x.

2. Installation steps: (1)Compiling r8169.c using 'Makefile'.

"make" <NOTE>Please remember to ASSIGN "NEW_INCLUDE_PATH" in Makefile according to linux kernel.
(2)Move r8169.o to the directory "/lib/modules/<kernel>/kernel/drivers/net".

Ubuntu Multimedia :: No Sound With Encore ENLTV-FM

Mar 1, 2010

I started this process about 1-2 years ago, and am finally getting back to it. I have:

AMD Sempron processor 3400+
1 GB memory
200 GB hard drive
Encore ENLTV-FM TV card (SAA7134)

[code]....

I get a good picture, but no sound. There is a short jumper cable running from the sound output of the TV card to the "line-in" on the sound card. I have messed with the settings in Gnome ALSA mixer, including what I think are the correct settings (Line-in:mute, record; Capture: Record, Master:100%, PCM 100%). I don't even get sound if I plug the speakers directly into the TV Card. I've tried different audio settings in the MythTV backend and frontend, but I really have no what the proper settings are.

I have an Encore Electronics 802.11g Wireless LAN Adapter installed on a secondary desktop. When I was running Windows XP the wireless signal was strong and did not disconnect. Debian Hardware :: NIC Disappears On Resume On Encore 2

Feb 23, 2016

I managed to get Debian up and running on my Encore 2 tablet. Wireless works on the 4.3 kernel, but the interface disappears when I wake the machine from suspend. There are no errors in dmesg, nothing related to wireless in syslog, and the brcmfmac driver is still in the kernel. Removing and reloading the module doesn't make the interface reappear. I'm not sure where to look for the problem.

OpenSUSE Install :: Compatible With NTFS?

Mar 14, 2010

I plan to install OpenSUSE as my main operating system. However, before proceeding with the installation I want to clarify one problem I think I might face. My disc is partitioned into 2 parts- a) C: being my primary partition and b) D: containing all my important files. Both the partitions are NTFS.

I am planning to format C: and install OpenSUSE on it. Will I be able to use the D: partition in OpenSUSE just as I use it in Windows or would I have to format D: too? I do not want to format D: drive. Would I have to make any special configurations before or after installing OpenSUSE to use D: drive?

OpenSUSE Install :: GRUB ( Comes In Suse11.2 DVD ) Compatible With Windows 7?

May 13, 2010

Recently, I downloaded openSUSE 11.2 DVD.I read here (Partitioning/Install Guide) that GRUB may not dual boot correctly with windows: It should be said that grub does not always get the settings to boot Windows quite correct and you may later have to adjust the /boot/grub/menu.lst file in your Linux installation

Is it true also for the openSuse version (11.2) that I downloaded? Please refer to Windows 7.

OpenSUSE Install :: 11.2 - Install An Older Kernel As Recent Kernel Is Not Compatible?

Feb 11, 2010

A few days ago yast did update my computer to a new kernel-desktop 2.6.31.12-0.1.1.

My mainboard is an ASUS P4P800-VM with Intel ICH5 chipset. This new kernel is not able, to poweroff my computer. Older kernels were able to poweroff the computer.

How can I roll back to the older kernel? Yast does only offer the recent kernel.

In /boot there are only files of the recent kernel.

ASUS P4P800
Intel Pentium 4 HT, 3000 MHz, Frontside 800 MHz/Cache 1 MB
3 GB Ram
AGP nVidia 7600GS/512 MB, nVidia driver 190.53, installed from yast.
PCI WLan TP-Link 951N (Atheros chipset, WLan N, driver ath9 was automatically installed)

Ubuntu :: When Press The "effects" Button It Tells That Need To Install LADSPA-compatible Effects?

Jul 26, 2010

So I'm interested in using Jokosher as an alternative to Garageband, which is what I'm used to using for recording music. After messing around with it a bit I've encountered a couple problems. The first is that Jokosher doesn't seem to remember the audio input device I selected the last time I used it. This may seem like a minor complaint, but I like to use my computer sort of like a tape recorder - that is, I use it to jot down quick musical ideas for later reference. With Garageband my internal mic is automatically selected, so all I have to do is press record. With Jokosher, however, I have to select the input I want to use every time I open the program. This, to me, kinda defeats the purpose of using a computer as a quick note-taking tool. Is there any way to set a default audio device for Jokosher to use, or to somehow make it remember which device I selected the last time?

The second is that I don't know how to install effects for this program. When I press the "effects" button it tells me that I need to install LADSPA-compatible effects myself. I've done a little bit of googling and still I can't figure out how to do this or which effects I should get.

One frustration I had with Blackberry was that I was not able synch my phone with my home computer (ubuntu) when I checked two years ago. Since then I have been using a windows machine to synch.

Now I am looking for a new phone and I would like it to work with my Ubuntu computer. I am wondering what other Ubuntu users experience are on this issue.

Ubuntu :: Compatible HD Capture Devices?

Jun 11, 2010

I currently own an easyCAP, standard definition capture device. I'm looking into purchasing a HD capture device, but the only one which says it supports Linux in the spec is the Blackmagic Intensity Pro (PCi Card). Here is a list of the ones which I'm looking into possibly getting, but I'd like to know if I can use it to record (my Xbox 360) on Ubuntu (Studio) 10.04 Lucid Lynx, and how hard it would be to set it up.
Blackmagic Intensity Pro

Hauppauge HD PVR
AVerTV HD DVR
Blitzbox HD

Also, if you know of any other decent HD capture devices, comment and let me know

Ubuntu :: Compatible AMD-64 PCI Or USB Wifi Adapter

Dec 7, 2010

Having moved my computers into a "new" office in my house, I have no network cables. Had fun times trying to run a network cable, ultimately stopped due to unknown block in the vertical wall and fear of drilling through something important. I have strong WIFI signal to this room.

I tried plugging in my Netgear WPN111, didn't work. Works on my Win7 box, and I need one on that anyway, so I'd prefer to get another wifi card, be it a PCI, PCIE, or USB dongle. I would prefer the USB dongle since I could then use it elsewhere if need be. I've installed Ubuntu 10.10 64-bit. The cpu is an Intel quad-core 920, with 8GB ram.
