General :: Yum Update - Cannot Retrieve Repository Metadata

Just starting out to use linux and of course, everytime I first install an OS, I download 2 things, flash and Chrome. Chrome works fine, but flash has been giving me a lot of problems. I've downloaded the yum file from the Adobe website, and unpacked it using the GUI, yet it still didn't work. So I started googling how to use yum. So I followed some directions and tried doing

But thats not the only problem, I think my repo's are messed up or something because look what happens when I type:

As you can see, its still trying to goto the adobe website, even when I type in a completely different command from getting flash. So I guess I have 2 questions:
1) How can I "restore defaults" on yum so that I can actually use it
2) How can I install flash?
I've made a terrible mistake that I changed files in /etc/yum.repo.d and /etc/yum.conf.Now I can't get update by yum update, saying that ERROR: Cannot retrieve repository metadata (repomd.xml) for repository: base. Please verify its path and try again. Now I'd like to reset everything to default.What can I do now?
I tried to update via software center anddd with 'yum update' but it won't work for me, I get: Loaded plugins: langpacks, presto, refresh-packagekit ...

Any way which would allow me to edit something to make the paths right or to even remove the spotify.
recently ran into another issue (for those who haven't seen it, I'm having an issue setting up my wireless on Linux...) which is that when I run the yum update command in the Terminal I get this output:

yum is completely broken. I cannot install or update any software. yum is always throwing:

If I manually click on the link it will resolve in firefox so I am sure it is not my net connection per se, it seems yum or curl is adding a : to the end of the url thats why it wont resolve properly.
I have done a yum clean all , which didnt really help either. reinstalling the rpmfusion repos isnt an option either as I start getting curl errors in the terminal. I am really at a loss here and am completely out of ideas as I cant install any updates or software , at first I thought the repositories were having problems with the holidays but this has been going on for 4 days now. /var/log/messages isnt showing anything either.
I updated my up to date F12 to F13. I have what must be a 640X480 display with no way to change it. I get an error:

Edit: The url works if I leave out "repomd.xml" at the end; and the repomd.xml is exactly in that folder? i have downloaded the file but don't know how to use it.

I have Fedora 12 (kernel 2.6.31.12-174.2.3.fc12.i686) installed on my machine. This was a new install, not an upgrade from 11. When I go to the website mentioned, I see that there is no linux/12/ directory. Is there another website I should be pointing to? Or more generally, how do I fix this? I read another thread relating to a problem with the metadata and tried the fixes suggested (yum clean and yum -y remove yum-fastestmirror). There was only limited improvement with this.I am new to Linux so I'm not sure what else would be helpful here. I did do the yum repolist command.
