It's a dummy question, but does anyone know of some "time notification" setting or program for opensuse? I wish I could be notified every whole hour. And is there anyway to hide the clock without removing it from (gnome) panel?
View 2 RepliesWhen a notification comes in on KDE, if I am scrolling a window in FF at the same time, the FF page goes smeared and unusable, and stays that way. Is this a known bug or something I can tweak? I will post a screen soon... (I have to wait for a notification!)

When I put a CD or DVD into the player slot, a popup window shows possible actions to take but these old eyes can't read it fast enough to get through the list. Is it possible to get it to display longer and if so how?
When I put an audio CD in the slot, the display says there are six (6) actions possible but I only have time enough to read the first 2 or 3.
Notifications that popup in Ubuntu (e.g., for downloading items in firefox or Network configuration stuff) display a rectangular black box in the upper right corner of my Desktop. It often covers up items I need to access like logout items or links to my Account etc in a webpage I'm in. I often find myself having to wait for the Ubuntu dialog box to disappear before I can access whatever it is covering up.Is there a way to make these dialog boxes appear in the LOWER right corner instead? Also is there a way to shorten the amount of time that these notifications display before disappearing?

In the panel option I found no setting option about notifications bar (or how is actually called in open SUSE). I use KDE Desktop.

If i was listening music, or watching a video I can still hear everything and even move the mouse, but nothing works.
So I switch to TTy1, perform a init 3, then init 5 to restart all the graphic system, and start again. This happens without message, without log, and without clue...
Should I downgrade to 4.4 or this has a Workaround?
I am running opensuse 11.2 KDE, and for some reason on the taskbar all the notification area/clock has moved from the right to the left, and all my open windows aren't appearing on the taskbar.

In the XP version of Thunderbird, a try icon appears when new mail arrives. I noticed in the Linux version I don't get the tray icon. Is there anyway of getting it to show or is it not available in the Linux version?
View 6 Replies View RelatedCurrently the Apparmor program has the notification logs saved to /etc/apparmor/notify.cfg, however, when I try to save the notification after putting my email address in, I get an error saying "Configuration failed for the following operations: Unable to write config changes to /etc/apparmor/notify.cfg"looking inside the folder, I do not see any file named "notify.cfg" BUT I do see so files called reports.conf, logprof.conf, and reports.crontab. I am guessing that the program is asking to save the notification changes to a file that does not exist and in fact one of those three files are the proper ones to use. Well if that is the case then how would I go about fixing this error?

On the Dell Inspiron N4010 (and many other laptops, I've discovered) there is for some idiotic reason no LED indicator for the Caps Lock state. Dell provides a little Windows 7 program that will put up a pop-up on the screen, but that is singularly useless to me when I'm running openSUSE or Ubuntu on this machine. Does anyone know of a KDE 4 widget that will notify me when caps-lock is on?
I did find another thread on this issue here: [url] But the "kkeyled" program seems to have not been updated since KDE 3.4 and I got a package dependency error when I tried to install it.
Another option, I suppose, would be if anyone knows how to disable the Caps Lock key altogether....

Is there a way to force it to sync with my domain controler or even another online NTP server?
I'm just wondering what the limits for time are. I have a program that always takes exactly 20 ms, so I assume this is the lowest it can measure, but I want to see if there's some sort of documentation of this.

I typically spend I would reckon quite honestly about 70-80% of my time with computers just fixing stuff up that either I broke or was broke in the first place. I've installed GNOME 3 on my Gentoo Linux, it really awesome and I love it.But here is a little glitch that I don't get used to: The notification area is hide until I hit "Windows" key or move the mouse cursor to the right-bottom corner.Since I've some program use the notification to indicate their status (for example, my Chinese input method use this to indicate whether I'm in English mode or Chinese mode. And a program that show the CPU temperature on the notification area).It becomes a little inconvenient if I've to move the cursor or hit "Windows" key just in order to check those status.
So is it possible to make the notification area always show on the screen? Or is it possible to integrate the notification area to menu bar just like GNOME 2.X or XFCE4?Besides that, I would like to know is it possible to remove the accessibility on the menu bar top-right corner?

To any user of an email program running on KDE: Let's call Kmail to such a program. When I am in the GUI, Kmail notifies me of any email that is entering. It does so by playing a .wav file through the loudspeakers (and displaying a little window in the desktop). But what happens if I am in a text console? Let's says I pressed Ctrl+Alt+F3. So now I am in virtual console #3. Shall I hear the sound? This question mortifies me.
