View 1 RepliesI am looking for tools for static/dynamic code analysis for embedded Linux system development (both device driver and user space apps) with ARM-based processor. We use Eclipse IDE and C++ lanuage for development. Does anybody have recommendation for tools to analyze code complexity? The tools is better to support McCabe complexity metric, however, we may also consider others. Does anybody have recommendation for unit testing?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI would like to test network performance, to get statistic information. Is there any tools where I could specify partikular message size send as a constant for many times and in an output I could get time for each transaction? There is a tool called ApacheBench, it is for webserver testing, but I would like to find something similar for network testing. I have also tried Netpipe, Netperf, Iperf, but they do not show information in an output, which I would like to see.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for a text editor, word processor, or another kind of program that makes it really easy to make it look like some of the text is inside of a terminal. So that it is very obvious what text is a command and what text is a description. Also a template that does this would work to.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to set up to serve Linux kernels and filesystems disklessly, and find the startup and test procedure a bit tedious. Can anyone point to a tool or tools to allow me to see what is going on with my DHCP/TFTP/PXE setup, which I'm trying to get working? Ideally, I'd like a tool that can do something like grab an IP from a DHCP/BOOTP server, tell me all about all that it found, and then if it was told to download a file, it could do that and tell me about how that went, and so on. Between the information reported by the tool and the droppings left in logfiles on the server side, I would hope to simplify the configuration process, as well as let me experiment with various options, etc. Even a PXE client tool that I can use to exercise my tftp PXE server configuration from a shell commandline would be extremely useful. If no such tool already exists, would anyone else find something like this useful?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having difficulties setting up Symmetric NAT through iptables.
First things first:
"A symmetric NAT is one where all requests from the same internal IP address and port, to a specific destination IP address and port, are mapped to the same external IP address and port. If the same host sends a packet with the same source address and port, but to a different destination, a different mapping is used. Furthermore, only the external host that receives a packet can send a UDP packet back to the internal host."

I am using WinSTUN, which requires a STUN Server address (such as the one I specified above) to return my type of NAT. What I need to achieve is Symmetric NAT through iptables, on the GW server, only on my IP address (192.168.0.200). I don't want it to affect the whole network. I am running CentOS release 5.4 (Final), and iptables v1.4.10

i have a program which have to encrypt data by using a symmetric block cipher with cbc encryption mode . it seems, that the IN data length must be a multiple of the cipher block length. is there a possibility to advice libgrypt to do the padding of the IN buffer automatically or must i do this manually? in case of manual padding: what is the recommended strategy to perform high security? fill with zeros or random numbers

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded to Fedora 13, with emacs 23.1. Now when I edit a .gpg (encrypted) file, emacs doesn't cache the passphrase, so when I save the file emacs demands that I repeat the passphrase twice.Previously, the following line in .emacs made it cache the passphrase:
Code:
(setq epa-file-cache-passphrase-for-symmetric-encryption t) This is supposed to work, according to the documentation [URL], but in Fedora 13 emacs it seems to have stopped working.

Is it possible to convert/recompile an already compiled x86 binary into an ARM binary?I'm using a BeagleBoard with a command-line Ubuntu (Maverick) and want to run a Ventrilo server but the x86 executable they supply cannot be run on the hardware as far as I can tell (most likely due to differing architecture).Unfortunately I don't have access to the source to allow me to recompile it natively.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am going to order the parts and build a new PC soon. One goal I have on my new machine will be to use Windows as little as possible and use Linux. In Linux I will need to use an emulator/virtual machine of some sort for things like playing World of Warcraft or City of Heroes and running Photoshop. (No, Gimp is not just as good for my needs). I plan to have 4Gb, to start, of ram and my question comes to one of processor selection. I assume that running a Windows app in Linux would be one of the most system taxing things I could do. Would I be better served by more processor cores or a higher clock speed for these tasks? I will undoubtedly have an AMD proc. I have been considering the following.
Athlon II X3 440 3.0 Ghz.
Phenom II X3 720 Black Edition 2.8 Ghz
Phenom II X2 555 Black Edition 3.2 Ghz
Athlon II X4 630 2.8 Ghz
AMD Phenom II X2 545 3.0 Ghz
I am leaning towards the X3 440 (or 435) for the sake of cost so that I can squeeze a discreet video card into my budget but that it outside the scope of my question. Extra info just in case The Black Editions are very over-clockable with unlocked CPU multipliers. The Phenom II CPUs have 6Mb of L3 cache and the Phenom II CPUs do not. The question boils down to how well Linux and Wine are multi-threaded to make use of all available cores and what impact, if any, L3 cache has in a Linux environment.
I was wondering if I would be if i able to use x86 linux distros with my 64 bit processor, or do I have to use the 64 bit version?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an old mini-desktop computer I want to have as a spare machine for internet browsing and checking email. It has a copy of XP currently, but the previous owner didn't put the key in so I can't get onto it at all. I plan on putting linux on it, just not sure what it can handle. It has 384 megs of RAM I believe, and the processor is a via C3, so I'm not even sure if I can run linux on it. I've checked the faqs and googled a bit, but I can't tell if it's i486, i586, or one of those things, and I'm not sure what linux distros(if any) are compatible. Will linux mint be able to run on a 900mhz processor of this sort and 384 megs of RAM? I'm thinking no, but it's the only linux distro I've dabbled with before. If not, will ubuntu? Will opensuse?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI want to delete 'processor' module, but simple modprobe -r doesn't work:
Quote:
$ modprobe -r processor FATAL: Module processor is in use.
How can I do it?
I guess it's natural. Processor module allows the cpu to go to C1-C3 states (in my case). It may be possible to do it brutally, by running a superfluous process to force C0, but I'd like a sophisticated way.
The reason I'd like it is I'm troubleshooting hibernation (s2disk). According to [URL], it's worth trying.
Any Linux distros which can support 32 processor ?

View 5 Replies View Relatedis there a way to retrieve the processor model without taking information from bios? I don't know which processor is really mounted. I want to set up the right processor timing, but I don't know the processor type. Every time I change the timing for the processor in BIOS another processor type is determined (I should be an Athlon XP +1500, I think, but I don't know really).
I think with less /proc/cpuinfo the results depends on the timing that is set in bios. So could you tell me how I can find out which processor is really mounted?
