I am brand new to Ubuntu (1 day). I can find my way round most things but I can't print to my Canon Pixma. I have tried to download Australian drivers from a 2007 thread but when I try to download I get the error message "wrong architecture i386". My computer uses an AMD Athlon IIx3 processor. When I say can't print, the file goes into a print queue but the printer does not respond at all. I can see the printer when I go into system, admin, printing.
I have recently lost the use of my schools printers (schools out of session), and found myself in need of printing a document. I have a Canon Pixima ip1700, but I can only find software for a wide variety of Windows OS and a Mac. Unfortunately for this situation, I'm using Ubuntu 10.04. I've searched through the Software Center, and found an assortment of printer related software, but I don't know how to use any of it to allow my computer to print this single, lonely page.nDoes anyone have any advice as to how to connect a computer to a printer? Beyond putting the long cord into the USB thingy, that is, and preferably without using TurboPrint, or any other software that leaves a banner?
Been using ubnutu gnome for a loooong time and my printer (Canon MX340) has been running just fine, configuration and usage.
I now switch to kde. configure my printer the same way i would under gnome and as soon as i send a job, it processes for about 3 seconds and just marks "stopped" under status. nothing goes through anymore!!
i've updated from 4.5 to 4.6 with backports and nothing is happening on there either.
im running maverick amd64 and using the i386 drivers (with dpkg -i --force-all) which are still recognized even under kde.
p.s.: the printer normally runs as wireless standalone (no samba/cups involvment whatsoever)
I found instructions on how to install the drivers for my Canon MP560 to get the printer working when connected with the USB cord. But I still can't seem to use the scanner or print wirelessly to the printer. Not really sure where to start.
Is there a way to print from a Canon MX 330 All-in-One printer in Ubuntu 9.04? I'm trying to print through a Linksys WRT54G router. The printer is physically connected to a Desktop PC running Windows Vista (64-bit).I've tried installing the printer though CUPS to no avail. I tried the iP4600, iP3600 and iP2600 drivers and none of them have worked for me. I've even tried the Gutenprint PIXMA IP4600 drivers.
My first day as Ubuntu 9.10 user. Downloaded drivers from Canon Europe and installed .deb package using G and all seemed ok but no actual printing occurs. System says all installed ok and indicates printing occurring but no physical printing happens. Checked printer on another PC and all ok.
I use an Intel P8700, 2 core 64 bit m/c.I have tried downloading the Canon binary files, but these fail after starting when the software detects a 64 bit mc.Now trying with the Canon source files.extracted the print filter loaded the "autogen.sh" which ran and invited me to type "make". Yes! I thought!I have been trying to print for about 5 months now, and am getting weary!George "autogen.sh"ran ./configure, apparently successfully, invited me to type "make" which I did. This failed!I have a copy of the interaction but cannot see any way to add it to this post.
I have Canon MF4150 printer. I have downloaded Linux Printer Driver (UFR II) Ver.2.10E from canon asia site. Adding the printer and printing work fine, except that after one printing, the printer stops working. There is no error message./var/log/cups/access_log shows
I want to select 3 option double-sided,layout 2up,color(grayscale)
Configuring at cups web page [url]
"Inkjet Print Filter Ver.2.70" and "3.0" is as same as "Ver 2.60" In case of using each canon drivers, can't select color option window. And there is no color option on cups page, and system-config-printer. I thought any canon official driver may be no able to apply double-sided option.
I expected more from ubuntu 10.4 with regards to printing with exact size photos and with poor auto colour printing but the situation remains unchanged! for instance .. the photo size configurations for ubuntu/fspot/gimp and others are not compatible with my printers (HP and Brother) .. here in Europe a typical standard size photo (10x15inches or 150x100mm are not even on the Ubuntu listing? I have tried all listed possibilities including "custom" (which does not seem to ever work correctly?)and the result at best is photos with uneven boarders or at worse my printer goes a bit crazy with much wasted photo paper and expensive ink ...even photos selected for "no boarders" still produces photos with the self same uneven boarders.
I have tried pretty much everything over time following advice in this forum and including using HPlip and updating drivers required for my Brother printer but the root problem seemingly lies with the Ubunto photo size setup listing. Working with Ubuntu over the years I have found that it can do pretty much everything that Windows can do except for this dam ongoing photo quality and configuration problem.
I have tried selecting many of the drivers located on localhost:631 and none of them work. i550 is not in the list of drivers. When I select i560 it will print if it is only one line after that it seems to get confused and doesn't print. Sites that I have looked at [URL]...
I have done a fresh install of Ubuntu 8.04 on my partners desktop PC and am attempting to get her printer working, so far no luck. Ubuntu does not list a specific driver for this printer in 8.04 Printer is a Canon laserjet model L1112E according to the label on the printer itself but the printed instruction leaflet calls it a LBP 3000.Canon website offers a linux driver for lbp3000.
I have an ubuntu workstation 8.10 and wanted to know if I could monitor Canon printer queues , (see jobs, start/stop queues) etc. Similar to what my xp workstation does with the canon fiery sw.
I recently bought a used Canon IP1600 Inkjet Printer. It did not come with the cd-rom to install and set up this printer. I downloaded the driver. And i recieved a message saying my system is not modified.
I can't get my ubuntu 11.04 to print on canon pixma ip2772, it says that I got canon ip2700 series installed, and show that I am printing a test page, but nothing happens on the printer.
I've been running Xubuntu 9.04 for the past couple of months but have difficulty installing my Canon MX-860 wireless printer. Everything else works perfectly and connects wirelessly to internet. Since I run a couple of other Win based computers, printing from the Toshiba 1100 laptop hasn't been a problem. It would be an advantage. I tried to install the latest Xubuntu distro on the Toshiba and it installed but could not connect to the wireless Atheros card. Where should I start? get Distro 10.04 working first or try and install the printer with the existing distro?
Running Ubuntu 10.10, when trying to print to canon 1800 print file is created, spooled to printer but does not print. Job appears in print Q and ends as finished job, next job number increases correctly. Printer light flashes to indicate data in,, but nothing out on paper !! (printer works fine on "the Other" OS!
I have downloaded all drivers from canon website for linux or Ubuntu . My computer find this printer which suppose to be the right one but nothing happen ? usb://Canon/iP2600%20series. do I need more drivers or files to work in Ubuntu ?
I have downloaded successfully the drivers for the printer component of the MX330. The scanner drivers are downloaded, but I am unable to locate the working part of the .sh file so that I can open it. I have the .sh file in text, but do not know how to utilize it
