General :: MTS Mblaze Modem - Not Getting Connected To Internet From Fedora 11?

Feb 25, 2011

I have installed the 3 packages required for MTS Mblaze 3G Modem to get connected to the internet.

Quote:

1. usb_modeswitch
2. usb_modeswitch-data
3. wvdial

Here is the "/etc/wvdial.conf" file that gets generated when I do the "wvdialconf"

Code:

[Dialer Defaults]
Init1 = ATZ
Init2 = ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0
Stupid Mode = yes

[code]...

But now when I open Mozilla or Google Chrome Internet Browsers, I am not able to connect. Moreover, I also tried to ping to [URL] but it is not pinging.Is it related to some Network Manager settings. As when I look at the Network Connection Icon, it shows CROSS i.e. not connected to any network...

Networking :: Only Firefox Fails To Connect In Some Networks Using Fedora 14?

May 23, 2011

In all but one place my HP Pavilion laptop running Fedora 14 will work flawlessly to use the Internet for e-mail, ftp, http, etc. In one network there is a wireless router - Cisco/Linksys E3000 - that allows every computer to use the Internet normally for wireless or for wired connections, every computer but mine. If I use Google's Chrome I can access the Internet. I can ping any web site too, but the moment I try to access anything with Firefox 3.6.17 there is a long delay and the standard error page appears. Weather or not I use a wired connection is apparently irrelevant.The Windows 7 computers in the same network are free of this curious problem. Strangely I have noted a problem like this, possibly the same problem, with another network at a coffee shop and they both share the misfortune of using AT&T, which is proud to not support Linux ... for customers of course (it's good enough for themselves I'm sure)

General :: Belkin USB Wireless Functions Well In Jackalope But Fails To Connect?

Jun 12, 2010

I'm pretty new to Linux, but have had a bit of functional tutoring. i'm triple booting my old Dimension 8400. Have been running with Jackalope and XP for some time now and wanted to install Lynx and get a good handle on it before i completely wipe my other machine (Win7/Jackalope) and install it there.

Installed Lynx from a USB stick and all seems well, it recognises the UBS wireless and all available connections but just sits and spins on the password login and never connects...hmmm. I have tried all possible combinations of rebooting with the USB connected/disconnected/connecting after... to no avail.

The wireless seems to "work out of the box" just as seamlessly as it did for Jackalope, all the steps are similar, it just never connects.

Debian :: No Longer Connect To Many Sites - DNS Fails?

Oct 16, 2010

I'm running squeeze/testing. Two or three days ago I became unable to get my mail from pop.gmx.net. A bit of investigation and I found that the error message I was getting was: "could not resolve pop.gmx.net: Name or service not known". Now the funny thing is that I can ping, traceroute, or nslookup the site successfully. Telnet, rlogin and ssh give the same: "could not resolve pop.gmx.net: Name or service not known" error message.

I have tried using the IP address instead of the pop.gmx.net and everything works fine. There is no issue with connecting to pop.gmail.com on the same port. Obviously there is some cache somewhere with a messed up pop.gmx.net. Any idea as to how I can track this down?

Ubuntu Networking :: Wireless Connect Fails At WEP Key?

Dell mini 10 with ubuntu 10.04/windows xp, connecting to linksys wrt54g. Connected when I was using 9.10, has worked for several months since 10.04 was installed. Still works if I boot XP, but, when booting Ubuntu, router won't accept the passkey which I obtained from my wired computer. I've glanced through a bunch of posts and see several which are close, but no solution. Only cause that I can think of might be a shut down while connected. I say that because it was working and I had no need to change settings.

I either get a "Anaconda 12.46 Install Exited Abnormally" from the Live CD's or "Boot has failed, sleep forever" from the DVD's. I have also tried the Fedora 12 respin DVD and Ubuntu 9.10 Live CD with similar results. I am about to give on the whole thing at this point! The only success I have had is with the Gparted Live CD.

Debian Hardware :: WLAN Fails To Connect And / Or Is Very Slow

Mar 26, 2015

I've tried out many Debian distros and noticed the ones that I try based on Ubuntu, my USB WiFi adapter works fine and I don't really have any issues. When I try one that is based on current Jessie, I have sporadic WiFi issues and just overall instability with regards to connectivity and audio playback. I have tried two distros based on Jessie and had very similar results on both. Is there anything in particular I can try? I've done everything short of installing Debian stable and just pointing to Jessie. I've done that in a VM so I know I can handle it, but wanted to se if there was anything I should be trying first. I just didn't think a distro based directly on Jessie and Jessie backports would be any different from installing base Jessie as far as compatibility is concerned.

OpenSUSE :: Yast2 Software Management - Fails To Connect To Repositories

Nov 1, 2010

Annoying problems I have with Yast2 Software Management?

1. Sometimes when starting Yast2 Software Management it fails to connect to the SW repositories. It happens inevitably (i.e. without exception) at the first attempt after a fresh boot up, and sometimes otherwise. I can only retry or abort, and retrying usually brings no success anyway. Is it perhaps due to a time-out somewhere?

2. If I click on the 'abort' button (see above) or 'cancel' in Yast otherwise, I inevitably (i.e. without exception) get the following type of error message
Code:
** (<unknown>:4220): CRITICAL **: giop_thread_request_push: assertion `tdata != NULL' failed

** (<unknown>:4220): CRITICAL **: giop_thread_request_push: assertion `tdata != NULL' failed

** (<unknown>:4220): CRITICAL **: giop_thread_request_push: assertion `tdata != NULL' failed

** (<unknown>:4220): CRITICAL **: giop_thread_request_push: assertion `tdata != NULL' failed
(sometimes only 2 identical lines of error code)

OpenSUSE Network :: 11.4 - Firefox Fails To Connect To Internet (Skype Intact)

Jul 26, 2011

The problem is that firefox cannot connect to the internet, the odd bit is that skype has no such problems. Are there any network related functions that that typically go screwy that might cause such a problem? The netbook really hasn't been used much for tinkering to have 'accumulated' a problem, but I'm about to give it to the extremely non-technical parents in law and cannot have it misbehaving, especially not as they are in a different country.
