Been running Fedora 15 64 for almost three months now, without a single glitch. Boots up fine, runs great, just gets a little slow after running for a number of hours. Rebooting fixes that. Best 64 bit disto around!

After "yum install emacs" & "yum install emacs-ess", I was able to install emacs on my X86_64 running Fedora 10.
If I run one session of emacs everything works fine.
Once I start a second session and try to resize or move the emacs window, the system stops responding.
First off, I want to say that I'm loving Fedora 13. The problem is, I have run Windows 7, Vista, OS X and Ubuntu on this custom set-up. They've all run very fast, without a hiccup, but for some reason Fedora 13 seems to be running very slow. Symptoms include, but are not limited to apps like 'System>Administration>Services' make my CPU run at 100%Is there anything I can do to troubleshoot why it's running slowly?I'm running 8GBs RAM, an E6600 Intel Processor, on a Gigabyte ga-ep45-ud3p, rev1.1

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to run a library compiled in a 32bit Linux (CentOS) environment on my Fedora11 64bit image. I ran into a few issues with dependencies such as gcc, xml2, ssl plus a whole stack more that existed in /lib64 and no/lib where the binary was expecting them. After a bit of reading around, I found I needed to install the .i586 version of each of the dependencies. After adding most of them, I was left with libssl, libcrypto and libxml2. When I tried to do the following

I got an error stating it could not be copied due to a conflict with the i686 version. I was going to erase the i686 but it was going to remove a ton of other stuff so I created a symbolic link in /lib to point to 64bit version. Eventually, ldd had no missing dependencies so I figured I was good to go. I now get the following errors when I call my library
./SupervisionServer: /usr/lib/liblber-2.4.so.2: no version information available (required by /lib/libphp5.so)
./SupervisionServer: /usr/lib/libldap_r-2.4.so.2: no version information available (required by /lib/libphp5.so)
./SupervisionServer: error while loading shared libraries: /lib/libpalo_ng.so.0: cannot restore segment prot after reloc: Permission denied
PHP is installed and working and the libpalo_ng.so.0 is in the /lib folder
I find myself in a bit of a pickle. Following a yum update which included FF 3.0.8 FireFox stopped working details can be found in Fedora Bug 494255. To keep going I installed FireFox (from Mozilla) in /home/user/firefox which works great now I've installed all the i386 stuff it wanted, I've got all my bookmarks, saved passwords etc BUT I can't get flash to work. I figured all I needed to do was put a link to libflashplayer.so in /home/user/firefox/plugins/ and we'd be good but when I go to a site with flash content FF crashes. I installed Leigh 123s X86-64 flash rpm and made a link to it as above and got the same result.

View 9 Replies View RelatedOfflate I installed F11 i586 on my laptop. F11 shares the hard disk with Vista Home Premium 32-bit. The problem is that when running F11 (or even Ubuntu), my system shut off suddenly(not a normal OS shut down, but a sudden power off without any warning). This could have been a hardware trouble(heating) but it doesn't happen with Vista.

Maker: Toshiba
Model: Satellite L305D-S5881
AMD Turion X2 Dual Core Mobile Processor RM-70
3072 MB 800 MHz SDRAM
I don't want to open up my machine unnecessarily, if it isn't a hardware issue.
I am not sure how to verify the bit length of the machine and the OS and does it create a compatibility issue ?

I have Intel Pentium Dual Core E2180 / 2 GHz processor. i just upgraded my system with 4 memory sticks i.e. 7GB of RAM due to my requirements. Now the issue that i am facing is that my 32bit fedora system does not showing and suppoting more than 3.XX gigs of RAM when i consult "/proc/meminfo", "free -m" and "top". Now i have done two thing, first i have installed a PAE version of kernel. In result of this my system become two slow with the following error at startup. Error: starting udev: wait timeout. will continue in the background <Failed> Secondly, i installed a 64bit version of Fedora 10 but still it showing not more than 3GB of memory. Also a kernel bug system alerts me of not supporting more than 3gigs of RAM and ask me to send that bug to[URL]

Can anyone get the website below to work correctly with Firefox 3.5 and F11 64bit?[URL]...All I see is the background scrolling slowly and jerkily, none of the buttons at the bottom work. Reboot into Windows 7 and IE8: the same site is fast, smooth, the buttons work and the product details appear correctly in the centre of the screen.
I've tried disabling all adblock /pop up block options, ensured all javascript options are enabled and no change. Could this be a problem with the 64 bit flash player (installed from leigh's sticky thread) or a problem with OpenJDK?

Anyone successfully installed AIR and iPlayer on F11?
I've switched to 32 bit Adobe flash, tried Autoten for AIR and Dangermouse's advice for iPlayer: url.html but it's not working, and trying to install AIR from url results in an endless busy downloading graphic .
I assume my problem is a lack of required packages, though I searched the repositories using YUM extender for the packages listed here: url.html and can't see them either as installed or available.
I want to install IBM Lotus Symphony on my 64 bit system, but yum only finds 32 bit version.

installation media: downloaded dvd image burned the image installed correctly inside vmware and work as expected but the media boot to the first screen quistion and when press ok for new installatin the answer is a serious of errors messages (a lot of it). did my hardware not compatible??
My laptop is currently running on Windows 7 Ultimate. I have a 320 GB HDD, which I have partitioned as follows. C: Drive as Windows 40 GB capacity and successively partitioned the rest of the drives for 50 GB capacity and left an unallocated space of 67 GB for fedora 13 x64 installation. The problem that I am facing is, that I am unable to install fedora on this unallocated space..even though I am checking the option for "Creating custom Layout". When I check the option for "Creating Custom Layout" Ive been shown with the only option to install fedora on the unused space on the HDD which is around 265 GB. I am also attaching a screen shot of my disk management. how I can install Fedora on this unallocated space of 67 GB?

Earlier I was using Fedora 14 32 Bit with pae kernel. It used to detect 3.8 GiB of RAM (out of 4GiB). Now I've installed Fedora 15 64 Bit, but it detects only 3.7 GiB of RAM.... I've not installed any kernel patches.

If I am sitting in front of the physical machine, I have no problems at all. I would like VNC to behave more like I am sitting in front of the computer. Is there a way to do this? I've already filed a bug but really haven't seen any feed back yet.The bug has something to do with Anaconda and the Raid array but I really can't tell.
I have an Intel Board (see signature). I am running intel raid software under W7 currently.It works fine. But, I'm wondering, when I attempt to install F!!, is my current raid set-up causing problems? Do I need to get rid of the intel raid software and use a Fedor/Linux raid program to manage the raid array??
Background is this: Laptop has an internal h/d (obviously) so I removed it from laptop. Then set Bios to boot from external h/d. Installed Fedora 11 on ext. h/d no swap partition as drive already has 4 partitions. Fedora ran lovely!! I then replaced internal hard drive but left bios to boot from external hard drive. Boot screen for fedora came up, hit enter and fedora started loading. The little balloon started filling up, got to a quarter full and then screen went black. Had to reboot to get going again,same thing happened. Can anybody tell me what may be causing it,i.e. black screen. Fedora boots up and runs lovely with internal h/d removed. Any help very gratefully received. M/c has intel dual core processor, 3 gig of ram.
