Fedora :: Compile Mpeg4ip On 12 In Order To Do Live Broadcasts Using Mp4live

Mar 8, 2010

I am currently trying to compile mpeg4ip on F12 in order to do live broadcasts using Mp4live (a real-time encoding tool which mpeg4ip provides). The idea is to use mpeg4ip as broadcast software for Darwin Streaming Server which i am already running (v. 6.0.3 ) and streaming pre-recorded media. So i use the command

Code:
./bootstrap
which eventually tells me that
Code:
Mp4live encoder report:
ffmpeg encoder is installed
xvid encoder is installed
*** x264 encoder is not installed

Fedora Networking :: Bring The External Device (192.168.1.9) To The Set Of LAN Devices That Receive LAN Broadcasts?

Aug 18, 2009

i have an isolated LAN (no connection to outside) with 3 fedora boxes. Suppose one of the boxes has an IP device connected to the serial port. We use SLIP and slattach to configure it and we can ping the device from every fedora boxes. Is it possible to bring the external device (192.168.1.9) to the set of LAN devices that receive LAN broadcasts?

box 1: 192.168.1.1
box 2: 192.168.1.2
box 3: 192.168.1.3.

It runs slattach and uses 192.168.1.9 to address serial connected ip device. I set up this scenario and the external device is ping(ed) with success but if I build a socket udp program that sends a broadcast to the LAN all the fedora boxes receive it except the external serial device. Why.

Ubuntu :: Compile Application From Source In Order To Modify?

Sep 1, 2011

I have the source of the application I want to modify, as well as the list of dependencies I need in order to compile. I got the source code for those and compiled/installed them. I'm fairly sure that all of the dependencies are installed. However, when I go to run the compiler it crashes while parsing some of the code.

I had the application installed before, and it ran. After tinkering around trying to get the source to compile, the app no longer runs either. It crashes, and if run from the CLI, spits out something about not finding one of the files from the SDL library.

So obviously I did something wrong to mess everything up, because I'm in a deeper hole than when I started. Anyone know how I would go about fixing this? Or even starting with a clean slate so that I can have another go at it?

Ubuntu :: Use GParted With The Live CD In Order To Edit Partitions?

Oct 1, 2010

Basically, I would like to have a separate /home partition on my hard disk that will be shared by two different Ubuntu releases. In other words, I would like Maverick and Lucid to be on their own separate partitions, but to share the same /home. I already have Lucid installed (no separate /home). I know how to use GParted with the Live CD in order to edit partitions, but the main question I have is how do I migrate my /home folder to its own partition without ruining data? I've skimmed through some GParted tutorials but they don't exactly detail what I want.

Once that is done, I need to know if it is possible for Lucid and Maverick to share the same /home partition, and how would I set that up?

Fedora :: Change The Boot Order In Xp?

Jun 16, 2011

how slow XP was on my laptop, a casual friend (who moved away and I have since lost touch with) installed Fed 11 as a dual boot with XP, Fed 11 first. It has worked great for email and some net surfing. Now the machine is going to my wife, who does not want have to go to the boot menu to get XP. How do I change the order so that XP boots first and you have to go to the menu to get Fed 11? I've tried going through the forums, but since I'm not really a computer person, there are some basics I don't know (for example "open a terminal" - how does one do that?)

Would it be possible to change the order that the drivers load so the nvidia driver loads after the sound drivers?

just noticed that the windows are already set to respond that way (by default) only that the title bars don't indicate a change in focus.

Fedora Installation :: Can't Download The Necessary Drivers In Order To Work

Mar 29, 2011

I'm new to this community and very new to fedora Linux. I'm learning how to use this OS and am enjoying it immensely thus far, but it's not been an easy road lately with this speaker. See, my netbook has really crappy speakers so I picked up an Insignia USB Soundbar so I could get much better sound out of it. However, it won't recognize the USB and I'm assuming this means it can't download the necessary drivers in order to work. Now I've researched this and came across this forum:[URL]...

However, being as new as I am to this, I can't make heads or tails to what this means. If anyone can offer help to what this forum might be saying or how I might be able to get the speakers to work,

Red Hat / Fedora :: Change The Service Load Or Boot Order On My CentOS 5.3 Box?

Jun 2, 2009

I'm running into a strange problem trying to change the service load or boot order on my CentOS 5.3 box.

The service in question is shorewall. When I go to my /etc/rc.d/rc5.d/, I notice that shorewall is listed a S27shorewall. I need it to start much later. So I run a simple command "mv S27shorewall S99shorewall"

I then restart the server. But after the reboot, something has reset it back to S27shorewall.

For those of you who like the background story: I need to change it to S99shorewall, because I need shorewall to start AFTER xend does all its stuff, as xend messes around with the underlying networking of the computer. The xend stuff was at S98 and S99...but I was able to successfully rename them back to S97 and S98, and the rename stuck. I've also renamed other service orders. Those stick. The only one that gets reset is shorewall, always back to S27. I have no clue how to tell what is causing the resetting...

Red Hat / Fedora :: Cannot Modify Grub Menu File - Need To Change Boot Order

Mar 3, 2009

I recently installed a 64-bit version of centOS 5 alongside a 32-bit version, which I use. Turns out the 64-bit version absolutely will not boot and I'm stuck with it as my default boot option. Since the grub being used resides on the 64-bit half, I cant edit the menu file but I know theres a way to do this without it, through grub itself. I have about 29 render nodes now with this problem, and whenever they need to be rebooted I have to hook a monitor up to each one and hold its hand through the boot process. How to change the grub menu through grub itself, basically just change the default boot option and then have it stay that way?

Fedora :: Compile With Gcc And Llvm In 11?

Apr 2, 2010

I use a fedora-11 system and recently I installed llvm ( sudo yum -y install llvm llvm-docs llvm-devel ). When I search for llvm I get them in /usr/bin. some of the links to the binaries are broken(llvm-gcc,llvm-g++,llvm-cpp,etc.) the include files are found within /usr/include/llvm and libs at /usr/lib/llvm. How to compile them using g++? I tried to compile the kaleidoscope code given in the tutorial [URL] as per directed, but it fails to compile..

I get this...

toy.cpp:5:30: error: llvm/LLVMContext.h: No such file or directory
toy.cpp:352: error: getGlobalContext was not declared in this scope
toy.cpp: In member function virtual llvm::Value* NumberExprAST:odegen():

[code]....

I cannot find the LLVMContext.h file too. so i guess this might be a version problem. what should i do to make it work?
