Nov 8, 2009I'm trying to install from the non-free and the package told me to update rpm
when I do so I get the following:
Seems like its need to update rpm again to be able to update rpm ?

Fedora Installation :: Error On Install CD Boot
Oct 13, 2009So I've been having major problems with Ubuntu, and I've decided to give Fedora a try. But low and behold, I'm having some troubles here too.
The install CD gets past the point where it has the 3 colored bars on the bottom of the screen loading up the system. Then it goes to a screen and prints out some lines (pretty sure its just part of the system booting up). So everything is going fine, then it gets to the following line...

And it keeps spitting that line out over and over and over again.
I googled this error, and apparently it can happen sometimes if your HD isn't connected properly or isn't talking with the computer properly. But I know that it is because I currently have a 250g partition with Vista on it that I can access just fine. And also a 250g ubuntu partition on it.
However, when I try to go into the Ubunut installation via grub, it says that it doesn't exist.
So do I need to use gparted or something to reformat that portion of my hard drive? Or is there something else I can do to get that error message to go away?

This happens even when no other service is listening on port 80, as evident from the output of "lsof -i :80" and "netstat -A inet -lnp". This is due to a configuration file mixup. Both /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf and /etc/httpd/conf.d/system-config-httpd.conf contain the directive "Listen :80". If you comment out the "Listen 80" in /etc/httpd/conf.d/system-config-httpd.conf, httpd will again start.

Jun 21, 2011I've recently got this error coming up when I try to install things via yum through the terminal. It happens when I try to install *anything* at all. I'm running 32bit Fedora 14, although my laptop is 64 bit.
I think the error may have occurred a while back when trying to upgrade to fedora 15 running 64 bit, although I'm not sure exactly what I did then

Red Hat / Fedora :: Centos On Two Servers - Error When Trying To Install
Apr 3, 2010I am trying to install centos on two servers. The first a dell power edge p4 2.4 ghz 512 ram, the other is a supermicro with almost the exact specs. I tried to install the centos cd, using roxio to create the disk, (then just for measures tested the cd on my laptop and it loaded just fine into the centos install gui.) But it says media error when I try it on the dell and blue screens the other server. However if I put the windows cd in on both the servers, the windows install goes perfect. Apologies again if this is misplaces but I just joined the site and have had a difficult time trying to find where to post. What I am trying to do in the end is run web servers using apache.

Dec 16, 2010I've used yum (and rpm) for some time now, and have finally run into one of those dependency problem. I am trying to install git (among other programs), and I have reach an empass. Nothing I've tried has worked, and I just know there is a simple solution to this that I just don't know. It all started by skipping a dependency in the past (don't remember the package). I figured there would be something to clean that up, so I just continued.

Oct 22, 2009I have Vmware Fusion 2.0.6 (196839) running on my MacBook Pro. I installed Fedora 11 on the fusion and it works fine. The only problem that I am having is that when I try to install vmware tools, by runnning ./vmware-install.pl in the terminal, I am prompted with this message: What is the location of the directory of C header files that match your running kernel? [/usr/src/linux/include]
If I press Enter, the same message pops up. I am fairly new to linux, and I am just setting this up so I can set up a web server on this virtual machine for testing purposes.

First off I have set up the PC so that it dual boots XP and Fedora 12
I have been struggling with the installation of openoffice 3.2
I have watched a tutorial on ..... where he was able to do it on Fedora 12 using the
Add/Remove Software feature just by simply typing in openoffice.org.
I have tried this multiple times and can't seem to get it working.
I have also tried using the yum command through terminal
I have been using "yum localinstall" and recieve this error

Fedora :: Install OpenEMR With XAMPP. Error In Database?
May 2, 2010I'm trying to install OpenEMR. Official directions how to install can be found here. They say it's required to install MySQL, Apache (or another PHP-capable webserver), and PHP5. So I installed XAMPP following this instructions. I'm not familiar with the XAMPP. I only managed to start it.
Now going back to OpenEMR, I copy the unzipped directory to

Fedora :: Cryptic Error Message When Trying To Install Flash
Jul 9, 2010I'm new to Fedora 13, although 10 years ago I fooled around a little with Red Hat 4.2 and Mandrake 7. I'm trying to install flash on my desktop. The install went as smooth as can be on my laptop, but the desktop isn't going well. First of all, My system is an AMD Phenom 9950 Quad Core in an Asus M4N78 PRO motherboard with 4 Gb of RAM, although Gnome reports it as 3.8 Gb. Video is Invidia GeForce 5500.
The Flash install goes ok until I enter the command:
"yum install flash-plugin nspluginwrapper.x86_64
nspluginwrapper.i686 alsa-plugins-pulseaudio.i686
libcurl.i686"
Once that command starts running it pops out this error message:

Sep 25, 2010I was trying to convert a video from avi to mpeg2 using ffmpeg, but I encountered an error saying , unable to load filters, in reply to this issue, I read, I would need to have a complete mplayer setup on my system.
So i tried yum update mplayer but it gave me a dependency error regarding some vlc libs, so i tried to update vlc but still the same problem. I removed them, thinking of a reinstall, but it gives me the same errors on trying their fresh installs.
Then I thought of updating gnome by yum update @gnome-desktop, so what ever I try to install or update from the terminal gives me this error:

In the CentOS link I posted it said to use kernel from the xen directory.Ive found out that the last fedora version that shipped with xen was fedora 8. Does anyone know where I can find a fedora 12/13 xen kernel? Ive searched google for hours and can not find a xen kernel. Actually I'm to the point where I would even use ubuntu or any similar distro if I could find a xen kernel.
Fedora Installation :: 11 Install - Black Screen - IO Apic Error
Jul 9, 2009I'm trying to install Fedora 11 on a Dell Latitude c810 (PIII 1ghz, 256mb ram, GeForce2 GO)
When trying to boot from the Live CD it goes to the first fedora boot screen where it counts down from 10 then tries to boot.
It then says "IO Apic resources could not be allocated" then moves onto a fedora loading bar which completes... but the next screen is completely black, I've tried letting it stay there for 10 or so minutes but nothing happens.
