Anyone else having trouble downloading F10 from the direct download or the mirrors?
I can download F9 or F11 just fine but F10 stops at 108mb of the 3.9gb.
This is our first time choosing and installing linux. Our other servers are all windows 2008 x64. We were told to install fedora 13. I can only find a download for the desktop version and we're looking for the SERVER x64 download. Could I please get a link?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am trying to migrate an XP Laptop to FC 11. I downloaded the latest KDE-Live-x86 image and burned it successfully. When I boot with it however, I get the splash screen and no further.Any option I choose, ncluding the CD diagnostics and Memory Test result in the following:invalid compressed format (err=1)--System HaltedI'm certainly no expert, but am not a linux noob either, yet am at a total loss.Google has yielded many theories, but no solutions. It seems that this error is not exclusive to FC 11 either. Older fedoras, as well as non RPM distros seem to be intermittently effected as well.I have verified the MD5 of the iso, and have verified the cd against the iso. The disc gives the same error in another computer. I cannot access the on-disc diagnostics. XP runs fine.
View 6 Replies View RelatedAfter I finish a download in ktorrent, the torrent stops seeding.
A couple of notes: my download speeds are fantastic (~6mb/s), while my seeding during download is about 60kb/s. However, this seed speed seems to fluctuate a lot from about 3kb/s. Once the download completes, the seed goes to 0kb/s, and the torrent doesn't find as many leachers. For now, after I finish downloading, I re-download a portion of my download at a limited rate of 1kb/s so that the seed continues.
Lastly, I am currently running through a VPN server, however I this issue happens even if I'm running a normal connection.
Sorry title should have been F13 installation without internet I am having a P4, 1GB ram, 80 GB machine. Since yesterday I am having some funny issues on this machine. i have fedora 12 installed on this machine.
My mouse suddenly stop working, or the cursor changes from pointer type to a line cursor and basicaly the mouse just stops clicking. I am plannning to install fedora 13 on this machine. Have downloaded the 5 iso (
CD images).
Would choosing the option upgrade on existing Linux partition do the job? Is there a chance I loose my data files when the upgrade is done? I dont want to reinstall programs like java, eclipse, tomcat etc that I done in fedora 12. I only intend using the CD's as I dont have a lot of bandwidth and a fast internet connection to use yum.
Part way through the installation of Fedora 13 the installation stops with 510 square blocks displayed. The blocks are arranged in a 17 by 30 pattern and have two different colors. This happens with 3 different versions of Fedora 13. The 32 bit live CD version, the 32 bit version and the 64 bit version. I am able to start a live CD version of Fedora 10 but not the live CD version of Fedora 13 on this computer. The computer has an Asus P6X58D Premium mother board, an Intel i7-950 CPU and an EVGA GeForce GT 240 display.

When a request is made via https, php displays the content fine. If the request is made over HTTP the file is offered for download, rather than displaying it.
I know its probably something trivial but I've never seen this issue.
The plot thickens, I can display PHP over HTTP in some directories but not others (which offer the file for download)?
Wanting to try F11 out and having an issue straight off the bat (perhaps I should see this as a sign of things to come and stop here!).I grabbed the live cd last night and burnt to cd OK (I'm not a noob at stuff like that); the cd boots as expected and I'm presented with the initial logon screen; I click to log in as Live System User, the "Other..." option vanishes but then nothing happens from there.I've left it for 20 minutes so far
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an obsession of packing a large number of distros into one hard disk. Many distro installers do not like it even though their kernels can support higher number partitions. Typically an installer, say from a Debian family, would freeze when checking a hard disk that has more than 15 partitions. However if I put the same distro on a hard disk with less than 16 partition the installer will be very happy to install. I then copy the distro back to the original disk to a different partition, change the boot loader setting and fstab and the new distro will be happily working in the next hard disk that has 57 partitions.
This scheme works for any distro until recently Fedora refuses the move. I didn't investigate the cause then but I have just come up against a brick wall with the Red Hat Enterrise Linux 6. It was one out of the 4 I just moved. The others are operating happily. The RHEL will boot to a Grub screen. When I select the user account and type in the password it just refreshes the screen as though the password could not be accepted. I can boot up another Linux, mount the RHEL partition, change root to it and change my normal user password. Better still why don't I create a new user and another password.
Same result. I could not pass the log in screen with revised password or from a new account which got displayed. How about a little trick told by Justlinux library file --> to alter the run level. So I mounted the RHEL partition, changed root to it, edited the /etc/inittab and amended the run level from 5 (for X desktop) to 1 (single user - terminal mode). RHEL now boots to a root terminal! Success in a sense that my RHEL boots as expected and there was never a problem with booting. However newer Linux do not permit root log on to the desktop so I cannot check the log in with the ordinary user account to X. After I fiddled with the various files/parameters related to the gdm and X still no joy so I cut my loss and post the question here.
Have recently dual-installed F14 with Windows 7 on an Asus Eee PC 1015P, have been in and out of both systems satisfactorily a number of times. Now the Fedora boot just hangs up at the plain blue "f" screen. I have been prodding around looking at the problem of having no WLAN under Fedora but have not knowingly made any changes. I thought about just doing a re-install but am reluctant to risk messing things up further i.e damaging the Windows until I have Fedora working ok.

I understand i686 has backward compatability with i386. But i have following questoins:
(1) why we don't have an installation for i686?
(2) If I install the i386 package, do I get performance downgrades?
(3) Also, why the live DVD has this file called F10-i686-Live.iso?
(4) Finally, I always get message like "Warning: Cannot convert string "nil2" to type FontStruct
/usr/bin/xterm: cannot load font -misc-fixed-medium-r-semicondensed--13-120-75-75-c-60-iso10646-1" when I use X application. What's the problem here? BTW, I used Fedora core 8 before I didnt have this problem.
I have install fedora11 live and the mouse work well when installing.When you reboot the mouse works ok until the welcome screen apears then the mouse stops working and I cannot continue with the postinstall. I have a 1TB usb externalHD that I am installing fedora11 and have partitioned it so that I have 500Gb free for fedora, system is doucore 2.4,4gb RAm, I tryed doing this with three differend mice and connectting the mouse to different usb ports

What I'm looking for is a solution or a pointer in the right direction to setup on our local Ubuntu server a sort of cache. Each day each Ubuntu on the network, checks for updates and downloads, and installs. What I'm looking for is a way for one machine to download the update and then the others to download from the local resource.
A sort of local cache to try and minimise everyone downloading straight from the net for pretty much the same updates. I did a emerge cache many years ago when I was using Gentoo, so I'm wondering what I can use/do here with Ubuntu as we are all loving this distro now.
I'm not if I should download the i386 or the x86 iso. I'm not very familiar with hardware. The processor in the computer I want to install fedora on has an AMD64 athlon processor. My confusion comes from the fact that when I bought this computer it has what I assume is a 32-bit vista installation, and the recovery disc doesn't have the option to choose 64-bit or 32-bit installs like the one for my 64-bit vista machine does. View 6 Replies View RelatedAfter burning the DVD of F11 for AMD64, I boot from it. After some choices, instead of going to read from the DVD it connects to the internet and tries to download packages. After some time it fails to read and goes into a loop for trying to read. If I interrupt this and skip the network section, it reports it can't connect to the internet. Why does it want to connect to the internet anyway when I've booted from DVD ? It didn't do that on x86.

I choose "Install or upgrade an existing system". It is a fresh system not an upgrade. The installation proceeds - but it starts to download everything from the network, not from the CDs. How do I prevent this and force it to load from the CDs?
