I updated F11 this morning and when I rebooted X no longer sees my USB mouse. The system is a Dell Optiplex GX620 and it is a stanmdard scroll wheel Dell USB mouse. I do not have any of the bluez packages installed - I saw in another thread that removing/reverting them helped.
View 3 RepliesIt's two days now I'm in deep troubles after my last "yum update". The system boots as usual, the graphical login pops up the normal way but no input is handled by either the internal keyboard (the system is a laptop), the mouse pad, the external USB mouse and keyboard.
The hardware itself seems to be working as I can pop up the BIOS menus and even edit the GRUB booting line. But, after GRUB there's no possible input. I've tried to boot the system with the Fedora 11 DVD, rescue menu and then chroot. This in order to run a "yum update" in the hope that the problem was in some broken update. No chance: there's no update.
My questions are:
1. Is there a way to boot Fedora withou any graphical interface from GRUB (or anything else to skip the KDE)?
2. Is there a way to have the (cabled) network activated at boot *before* the graphical login?
3. What the he** is happening to my otherwise pefectly working laptop?
After the update on 7/03/10 edge+mouse button combo's don't work anymore, keyboard short cuts for the same function are still working. Example "Scale", keyboard short-cut ctrl-s working, edge+mouse button Right Edge - Right Mouse Button no action. Worked before...
View 6 Replies View RelatedI just updated to kernel 2.6.35.13-91.fc14.x86_64, and I'm now having a weird issue where my computer will hang during startup and shutdown unless I move the mouse around.
While moving the mouse, it will boot up or shut down normally. Once i stop moving the mouse around it will hang (until I begin to move the mouse again).Once fully booted it acts fine..
I have custom built Linux kernel (2.6.31) and also xorg. xorg is using xserver 1.7.3 . I have an application which simulates the mouse and sends mouse move events. When I switch the device on, the system boots and Xorg comes up, I can see X cursor on the system. When I start sending mouse move events from the application, the cursor do not move. If I attach mouse to the device and then move the mouse, from this point onwards the mouse events get detected from the simulation application. I have checked the dmesg log as follows

I have install fedora11 live and the mouse work well when installing.When you reboot the mouse works ok until the welcome screen apears then the mouse stops working and I cannot continue with the postinstall. I have a 1TB usb externalHD that I am installing fedora11 and have partitioned it so that I have 500Gb free for fedora, system is doucore 2.4,4gb RAm, I tryed doing this with three differend mice and connectting the mouse to different usb ports
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded to FC14 (64) from FC13 (32) and the mouse middle button (simultaneous left+right button) paste function has stopped working. I tested it with 3 makes/models of different mice and trackballs. For some reason (left+right) mouse returns the same code as the single right-button ('xev' value = 3). This worked in all previous FC and RH distros I've used in the past. Did a default setting get zonked somewhere? System: Toshiba laptop w/ USB mouse.

So i asked for help, and everybody just say install windows. And where is fun in that. If people when ever run into problem with some software on linux just install windows. Linux would never go forward. I m not some great gamer, but i would like to be able to play this game. Probably somebody run into same problem. I sow that people talk about something like dis on WOW and wine but simptoms doesn't seem same to me.

From System->Preferences->Mouse, I set the various mouse Pointer Speed acceleration and Sensitivity to Slow, Fast, Low, High, and and I couldn't get it any better. Today I installed openSUSE 11.3. I finished downloading updates, and restarted. I can get through the grub menu fine, but after that my keyboard and mouse fail to respond. On my windows partition(which is where I'm writing this) my keyboard and mouse work fine. If it matters, they are the Logitech Wireless EX100 keyboard and mouse set.

Does anyone have any suggestions?
I'm using the control key to locate my mouse pointer and that is very slow and annoying.
Was it something I downloaded?
I recently updated from 8.10 to 10.4 by updating to 9.04 & 9.10 first. My problem is, everything seems to be booting normally but once the splash screen loads, it freezes and the keyboard and mouse both stop working. After the splash screen hangs for several minutes, the screen goes black. I am wondering if there is something I can do during the boot sequence to affect the process or if I could do something with a burnt copy of 10.4.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI had applied all the updates available on 23rd Morning and Keyboard and mouse stopped working thereafter. The updates amounted to around 130 MBs in size. I can use the keyboard to select other items in Grub menu and it works upto the login prompt. I can change the console to Ctrl+Alt+F1 to F6 before the login screen. No response thereafter. I have set the autoloin after 10 Seconds and the notification asks me for enabling compositing.
When booted in recovery mode, the screen remains blank without the options like Repair Packages, Root shell, Resume etc.BTW, Ctrl+Alt+Del reboots the blank screen.What to do now? I thought that Reovery mode boot will give me the menu of these above items.The keyboard and mouse freeze just at login screen. So is it related to .gconfd or Gnome? Or can I unistall all the updates I had installed on 23rd December?At least how can I have the list of installed applications and my customisations in case of a reinstallation?Should I renstall and start all over again without any clue what I had done earlier?

I started having some serious issues with my mouse after running updates yesterday. I am basically unable to copy and paste any text and this is making editing essays a major major major PITA! Basically when I click and drag my mouse to copy, the highlight looks good until I unclick then nothing is highlighted. Even trying to double click on words to highlight single words results in the entire paragraph being hightlighted. For my two laptops running 9.10 I have to disable the touchpad, I prefer a usb mouse, after logging in, but if leave the touchpad enabled the problem still exists.
This problem only showed up yesterday, after the update as best I can tell, and disabling my touchpad for like the past 4 or 5 releases, including 9.10. I run xubu/xfce4, but I have booted into Gnome and its the exact same problem. I have the problem on two laptops, both running 9.10, and both were updated yesterday.This is not one of those childish "that's it I am going back to winblowz, Linux suxorz!" , but I will have to temporarily go back and use MS Office until I can find out what is wrong here, b/c I gotta get essays written and without being able to copy text it is very rudimentary.
My mouse wheel stopped working after a package manager update.I'm still running 8.04 (yeah, yeah, I know, will be updating soon). I can't seem to find a "package manager update history" so I can see what got updated when I did that just today (changes can't be more than 24h old).I tried rebooting/cold boot just in case.I check xorg.cfg, but it hasn't changed since march of 2008, so I figure nothing overrode the config.

I have Ubuntu Lucid Lynx since it came out, and until now it worked fine. I am updating regularly. Today too, I installed everything offered to me by updates manager (I looked through the list and didnt see anything I wouldnt want to update, but I dont remember everything that was there), and it asked for restart. Ok, so I restarted. Everything seemed fine. Then I tried to look at a picture, in normal,default viewer, an huh. It took 3 seconds for the mouse to select the pic, then another about 6 to open the viewer (and we are talking about a 40 KB pic). That was slow, but I thought maybe it was an accident. But no, everything I tried since goes slowly, at about a quarter of speed as before the update. I tried to remove unnecessary things with apt-get autoremove, I tried to stop or end all processes that seemed unnecessary, with no result. I restarted thrice. Nothing comes to mind anymore.

The graphics card in question is an ATI HD 5750, and mouse is an Apple bluetooth 'magic' mouse.So far I've managed to fix the mouse, but not the graphics.
At first I didn't have any display at all, but I was able to ssh into the machine and get part way through the proprietry graphics driver installation. The installation failed, but at least I have something displaying on the screen now.I have tried the fix in this thread:[URL]The installation of this completes, however the graphics driver is not working. If I go to Administration > Hardware Drivers, then Ubuntu tells me the ATI driver is in use, but it's clearly not (takes 3 seconds to move a window).I've tried booting into the .24 kernel instead of the .25, but that's even worse since not the mouse doesn't work in .24 (it used to work fine)
since the last update (that was yesterday) my trackpad left key has stopped functioning... i have to use an external mouse for now...

I was working on something important in 11.2 and did a "zypper up" in the terminal in the background. I wasn't paying that much attention to it, I believe it was an update to 11.3. After returning to the computer after about one hour the windows were behaving strangely and the machine wasn't very responsive. I decided to reboot. Now at login I have neither mouse nor keyboard. I have switched the keyboard to PS2 model, no difference. If someone could help me with booting to run level 3 from the grub menu perhaps I could change some settings there to make everything work. I really regret doing the update. It would be very important for me to be able to get back in to machine with spending as little time as possible on this. Could I reverse the update? This machine is very important for me and my family for their daily communication, but currently I have very little time to fix this. My quick fix was to install Kubuntu 10.10 so I could resume working, but I would really need to get back in to 11.2.

Not a big problem, just annoying. I've looked through the various config files in ~home and /usr/share/wine, and can't find any parameter that might even remotely address this.

I've tried to update my Lineage2 client from official server but the update crash, tried to open the web page it didn't open. Also tried to open microsoft web it didn't open. When i try to open the same pages on PC with F10 they open with no problem.

The strange thing is that only one package was a delta rpm and all other were normal rpm. Is Fedora giving up on presto or it needs some special configuration?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just installed Ubuntu 10.10 on my HP Pavilion a320n computer with a ps2 mouse and the mouse pointer points with the bottom of the mouse and not the upper tip of the point. It does the same thing with Ubuntu 10.04.1. In Windows 7 and XP the mouse is normal. I don't know how I could adjust it or is this just a bug in the OS?
