i did not found md5 code of this? how i can check that the downloaded is not corrupted?
It seems there is a bug with F13Files send over Bluetooth to my WM phone are corrupted. When I send files, the Bluetooth transfer starts normal, then when the transfer finishes the window stays open (like it does not complete the transfer).I am unable to run or use that files on the WM (they are binary or data) so I assume they are corrupted. I have no problem with Ubuntu/Opensuse (I have a test disk with Ubuntu and OpenSuse) only with F13.
View 2 Replies View RelatedPrior to installing F11, I used fwbackups to archive some data to a bzip2 tarball. The archiving and compression went just fine. When I attempt to decompress the archive bunzip2 chokes with the following error:
Code:
bunzip2: Compressed file ends unexpectedly;
perhaps it is corrupted? *Possible* reason follows.
bunzip2: No such file or directory
Input file = Backup-stuff-archive-2009-06-14_01-00.tar.bz2, output file = Backup-stuff-archive-2009-06-14_01-00.tar
It is possible that the compressed file(s) have become corrupted. You can use the -tvv option to test integrity of such files. You can use the `bzip2recover' program to attempt to recover data from undamaged sections of corrupted files. bunzip2: Deleting output file Backup-stuff-archive-2009-06-14_01-00.tar, if it exists. Now I'm fairly sure that the problem is a couple of zero length files (dead pipes or the like) have been included in the tarball and it seems that GNU tar and allied tools are braindamaged when it comes to zero length files in an archive, treating them as end of file markers. I've had this issue with a gzipped tarball. Alas bzip2recover is not an option as the archive is 106.1 gigabytes in size (I know, I know) and to handle a file of this size it requires recompiling.
Googling for an answer returns grim news. It seems that tarballs like this are forever borked. I was wondering if any of the gurus here can offer some advice. Can my poor Shrek of a tarball be salvaged or is he a hopeless case? The lesson I have learned is not to create HUGE archives. Also using tools like tar and bzip (or even gzip) may not the best idea when archiving/backing up.
I've got a couple of odd issues in my 64bit install of Fedora 12. Firstly, I get some sound corruption when playing mp3s, video, in fact any audio. The first time a video or mp3 runs it seems fine, but for a certain time after-woods all i hear is weird static popping noises (hard to describe) with none of the original audio present. The problem seems intermittent, and can also happen when say i fast forward music of videos. I had this same issue under Ubuntu, and happens in both Gnome and KDE.I just experimented with fast forwarding an MP3. If I click some place along the progress bar it works fine. If i drag the bar it then corrupts the sound.
I also have an issue with multiple applications accessing the audio device at the same time. This is an issue I did not have under Ubuntu. The first app will work fine and play the video or music. However any other apps i start up will not do anything. As an example, if I have ..... loaded in FIrefox and have played a video, and then I load a video in the movie player on my desktop, it will not play the video until i quit firefox. I have tried all sorts of options with pulseaudio, including switching the virtual device on for multiple playback, but to no avail.I have not tried the 32bit version to see if this is an issue with 64bit and my PC.
I untared a few libs on the wrong server (that's the when you're supposed to start laughing!) and I corrupted my server. Everytime it boots up, I get the following error:
/sbin/init: relocation error: /lib/tls/libc.so.6: symbol _dl_out_of_memory, version GLIBC_PRIVATE not defined in file ld-linux.so.2 with link time reference. Kernel panic - not syncing. Attempted to kill init!
I can I restore the original libs? I'm running RHEL 2.6.9-42 on a Proliant DL585.
I am attempting to copy files from one server to an external USB drive on a second server. Both servers are running custom RedHat Linux, kernel 2.6. Both are setup as Check Point SecurePlatform (one is a log server and the other a management server). I am trying to archive files from one (HP DL380 G5) to the second (HP DL380 G6). I am not able to archive directly to the external usb drive when connected to the HP DL380 G5 (data gets corrupted and switches to read-only access). The external USB drive has no issues when connected to the HP DL380 G6 server, thus my reason for trying to copy the files across servers.
When I attempt to use scp to copy files between the server, I am prompted for the password. Once entered the debug shows the authentication is successful, but then no files are copied (see log below). I have tried searching for potential answers, but none have panned out. Unfortunately I can't yet post the actual scp debug log output as some of the text is viewed as a URL and not yet allowed for me. I have changed all the atsign symbols to '(a)' to avoid the URL inference.
Output log from scp attempt follows:

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a PC with three partitions: C, D, E. The C: and D: partition are NTFS and C: has Windows XP on it. D: holds my data files and folders in the Windows environment. E: has CentOS version 5.x. The machine is dual bootable. When booting up Grub gave me the options to boot to CentOS (by default) or to boot into Win XP (by selecting it).
Recently I used Partition Magic to resize the D: partition. I shrank the D: partition. The freed space space was then used to create a new NTFS partition.
After the partitioning was completed, I rebooted the machine. But now Grub is having a problem. It does not display the list of of bootable OS options any more. Instead there is just a black screen with the prompt:
grub>
What am I supposed to do here?
I am afraid that after I ran Partition Magic somehow Grub is messed up. How do I recover the previous boot options? Or at the minimum, how do I make the the machine to boot into Windows XP?
I wanted to upgrade my Fedora 9 laptop to Fedora 10. I executed this:
Code:
yum -y install preupgrade
preupgrade
It downloaded 1.1G of RPMs and asked me to reboot. Now when I boot, I am prompted for my pass phrase to unencrypt my /home partition on SDA4, but it can't be mounted. Same when I boot from a CD. Is there anything I can do to fix my encrypted drive? Is there a chance I'm just missing a driver? Has anyone else upgraded with preupgrade and an encrypted drive?

Windows just tells me that the USB is not formatted. When tail -f /var/log/messages and I insert the USB stick, there won't be anything appended.
fdisk -l does not show anything.
I don't usually post scary post titles, but i'm a little desperate. I apologise for the bad grammar and flow of this message, i'm blaming it on this tiny netbook.Summary: Linux crashed, corrupting only the NTFS partition, the mft isn't recoverable with CHKDSK and tesgetdataback on windows sees the partition with all of it's files.Question: If getdataback can see all the files it must be able to see the mft. Is there a way to rebuild the mft?Long winded version:So I was running 9.10 64bit and was accessing a NTFS partition made by Vista.I was extracting a 7z. archive when the computer became unresponsive. Ctrl Alt Backspace didn't work, alt ctrl f1 worked but i couldn't login so couldn't halt the system. I waited 5 min and turned off the computer. 4 seconds on the power button.
When the computer restarted all the partitions were fine except the NTFS partition. 9.10 couldn't mount the partition, saying CHKDSK needed to be run. Booting into Vista, I get a black screen with a cursor flashing on the top left. Booting into recovery I ran CHKDSK /f /r c: which came back with something like "mft corrupt, couldn't recover aborted".I then got back into 9.10 and tried testdisk. When attempting to do anything with the partition, it crashed with MFTSegmentation fault. Getting desperate, I tried to dd the partition onto a nas but at 30 gb the computer got really slow so I aborted that. {I don't have a hdd large enough on the computer}.
I then unplugged the hdd and plugged it into another computer, using sata. Linux doesn't have any advanced recovery tools for ntfs so i used getdataback on vista. This sees all of the files but I can't find a way to recover the MFT.I haven't lost any files but wouldn't mind restoring the mft. Is there a way of doing thisRant:WTF. Ubuntu 9.10 comes with ntfs3g as default? It should be safe to use. Windows has crashed many times but hasn't taken down the mft.Reading more about this, an MFT getting corrupted should never really happen other than if the disk is physically defected.
Im seeing this problem (see screenshot) while running gtk apps. the letters are occasionally corrupted and merged together

For data storage I have a large (6,35TB) XFS partition. This partition is exported to the vm as a block device (vdb). This morning I noticed the vm has crashed. The XFS partition (mounted as /home) was shut down. Is this just bad luck? Or is it 10.04?

I haven't tried an Ubuntu LiveCD, because I lost mine (making a new one is difficult with our current internet connection) and I feel I would get the same results. At the very least, I would like to be able to get all my music, videos, etc. off the drive, but I would prefer being able to fix it completely so as not to have to buy a new one.
after I installed KDE on my Ubuntu installationv I suspect Unity UI got corrupted...I can run KDE fine but there's no 'desktop' when I log into Unity...Similarly no panels or 'desktop' in 'Classic Ubuntu' session also though I can run applications using 'Gnome Do'... View 2 Replies View RelatedI have all of my music in mp3 form on an external HD. When I copy it to my home folder for use in Banshee 2.0, some of the music files become corrupted. When these copied mp3s are played, they have annoying, intermittent distortion throughout some of the songs. In an effort to try and isolate the problem, played one of the distorted songs directly from the file on the external HD, and it played flawlessly. I then downloaded Clementine and had the exact same distortion on the playback from the copied file, and then no distortion from the external HD file.
So at this point, it seems like the mp3 are getting messed up when they are being copied from the external HD to the computer.I am using a USB 2.0 port for the file copying.

I'm running RHEL 5.3 on one box at work; after the initial installation, the console font was fine (although it was visible in only one of two monitors: dual-head was configured automatically). After the first yum upgrade (which brought in dozens of packages), the console font became almost unusable. At first I can log in (say, on TTY1), but after the next few keystrokes every blank part of the display is changed to a capital G with a caret. Also, stdout (in some cases) is in an unreadable (for me, cyrillic maybe?) font. (And now the same - corrupted - display is visible in both monitors) I can't find the command to choose another console font. Looked in the "system-config*" type scripts to no avail
