Instead of changing the playback, these commands open a new Banshee window, and then I get 2 banshee processes running. I tried to get some help in Banshee's forum, and they said it's a problem with Dbus, more specifically, the variable DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS is not set. If I run the following command, I get an empty line:
SInce I upgraded to 13.1 I get the above error with lots of programs. I check the D-BUS with /etc/rc.d/rc.messagebus status and it says the D-BUS daemon is running. What should I check next??
do have installed glib and dbus and can find them manually , /usr/include/glib-2.0/glib.h , but while comipling applicaiton it gives following error messages.
/usr/include/libosso.h:32:18: error: glib.h: No such file or directory /usr/include/libosso.h:38:23: error: dbus/dbus.h: No such file or directory /usr/include/libosso.h:39:32: error: dbus/dbus-protocol.h: No such file or directory
I'm in the process of restricting access to my Linux production box, where ssh access needs to be limited to only a few MAC addresses.I've followed the instructions outlined in this guide and ran the following two commands:
/sbin/iptables -A INPUT -m mac --mac-source XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX -j DROP /sbin/iptables -A INPUT -p tcp --destination-port 22 -m mac --mac-source XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX -j ACCEPT root@xxxx:~/#: iptables --list
When I install a commercial audio into the CDROM drive I get th following: Unable to mount Audio Disc DBus error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.InvalidArgs: Mountpoint Already registered
when I connect my iphone (3GS, 4.3.3) to Fedora 15 it gives me this error: Unable to mount iphone DBus error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Message did not receive a reply (timeout by message bus). The weird thing: after looking in var/log/messages it appears that it is trying to be used by NetworkManager. And when I lookin NM, i can see iPhone as an ethernet device (cable unplugged).
I have UBUNTU server 10.04 LTS with 3 NIC "eth0" local and eth1,2 as internet connection and it acts as firewall, http proxy and samba file server ,I installed Zentyal panel manager for my server for easier management I did not configure any specific rule for my firewall but I have some problem with my clients who wants to connect to my server as gateway or as file server even my self experienced these problems too. these problems are as follow:
1. some time for a few minutes (maximum 10 minutes) my server block some of my clients to access it or internet but just for minutes but it is very annoying. 2. all of my clients those who login to an https servers or login to their mail or those who has some software like team viewer say that they are logging out from their session randomly I mean some of them logging out from their mail(yahoomail or googlemail ) or disconnecting from teamviewer connection or as I saw team viewer disconnecting for a few seconds and then comes back again. but I did not set any thing in my firewall or other services. this is my complete iptable rules:
Debian and running Lenny on a server. I'm trying to install dbus and get an error:
So it seems I'm missing the /etc/rc0.d directory. I checked and all the other rc directories are there, from rc1.d to rc6.d, rc.local and rcS.d.
I don't know how deep these things go and I don't know why I'm missing the rc0.d. Can I just create the directory myself and that's it? It doesn't break anything somewhere else if I make it up myself? Or do I need to do something else to get this working?
I'm not sure what when wrong since I have a few DVDs and they all play well in my normal DVD player, I later attempt to mount it in my Ubuntu 8.10 I'm presented with the following message:
DBus error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken.
May I know what does this really mean?Is there something in my computer that require a fix?
I had my laptop turned on. The battery turned out low and my pc shut down (not in the correct way obviously)! Plus: I was running apt-get upgrade but it should have done before shutting down. Now, I restarted my pc and under nm-applet I see: "wireless network: device not ready" and at login I get the message: "Network configurations failed. org.freedesktop.dbus.error.spawn.PermissionsInvalid: the permission of the setuid helper is not correct" and that I could not be able to connect via bluetooth (but actuallyu I can't use wireless!)! What to do guys? I use debian squeeze. I read from someone using kubuntu that he solved the problem reinstalling all the packages with "dbus" in their name. But I don't know if my ethernet will work yet!
Update: if I run dpkg-reconfigure dbus, it tells me that dbus package is corrupted or not complete: could be the issue?
My ISP offers the service of native IPv6. So my ADSL router provides me with a local and global IPv6 address. However after a reboot it takes minutes to finally see the global address when using "ifconfog eth0". During that time I can't do a ping6 to an external server, which seems logical. So I waited several minutes, but no global address. After that I started a KDE session, went back to the console(<Ctrl>+<Alt>+F1) and now the global address was there. Is this normal behavior or should I file bug report?
I was just trying to get the now playing for banshee to show on conky but the way I was going to do it required me to make a wrapper for banshee.sh but I can't seem to find it or it doesn't exist.
I am looking for music player like banshee but do not want mono . Banshee unfortunately requires mono
[Code]...
Obviously have not given all all the deps, but the last 7 odd ones tell you what I mean. If anybody knows of any good music player which has similar functionality as banshee lemme know. Look for two things:-
a. Should be able to play all and any music format (have all the plugins) b. Should be able to close it and have it in the system tray playing in the background.
I have been using Lenny for about a year now, but for some reason Xine has suddenly stopped playing mkv files. It plays everything else including flash. I only started using xine because the mkv files for some reason suffer from a lag between the video and audio in mplayer. I tried installing banshee and vlc but neither of them show video. So I was left with only Xine and it worked perfectly then it suddenly stops playing mkv. Is there something I need to install or remove, reconfigure? Do I just delete the Xine config folder in my home-folder? Lenny being what it is I can only install what is on the out-dated Lenny repos trying anything else like the unstable releases simply wants to uninstall my entire system.
My machine specs are: Acer Aspire 8930 Intel Centrino 2 NVidia geforce 9600m GS 512mb RAM 4GB I have the proprietary nVidia graphics drivers installed. So it is powerful enough.
I have a sony x10mini and it is correctly seen in nautilus and shotwell. But nor in banshee 1.6 (testing and sid) nor in 1.9 (experimental) is mounted. Fact is that I know it works for sure in fedora and debian so I wonder if it a problem of some dependency missing, configuration or permissions. I use the testing distro by the way...
started using debian for the first time and I have a problem. I've installed Banshee from the stable repository (only stable main contrib and non-free are in my sources.list) but when i start the program it says:
Running Banshee 1.6.1: [Debian GNU/Linux unstable (sid) (linux-gnu, x86_64) @ 2010-12-02 15:13:12 UTC] error: line 3: bad flagvector
After some time I was trying to use banshee media player. I am given an error message: Banshee Encountered a Fatal Error Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. The OS is Squeeze and the machine is a Netbook with Intel Atom inside.
I'm having some problems with banshee that started about 6 months ago. Banshee remains idle and does not play any type of music file. I've tried installing and selectively installing Gstreamer codecs with no success. I'm running stretch.
I have a very bad attempt at hashing the components of an tcp session to assign/locate the session in a hash table bucket. I am pretty sure that it has a very high collision rate and when there are a very large number of tcp sessions my application is having to search a long linked list to find the session within the bucket.
All the hashing functions I have found take a single string input where I need to input several integers and hash them into a single result. My guess is that any real hashing function is going to produce better results than what I am currently doing.
I have xdm as my login manager, but I wanted to give some other window managers a try. I currently use Xfce, but I'm wanting to give WindowMaker a try. How would I choose this on login?
Is there a session manager I can use with 10.10? I would like to try Openbox but am not sure how to select it as a startup session. I would like to be able to choose between kde, gnome and openbox.
I have debian squeeze server at work, acting as gateway, and home computer with debian sid (amd64). OpenVPN is working on server ecure connections from internet. So my home computer is connected to work server via openvpn almost 24/7. Some days ago i faced strange problem - when i make ssh session from home to work, via openvpn connection, i can login to work server, but after any command on remote console i have blank screen and nothing happening on it. Only exit is pressing Enter ~ . In server's auth log are messages about session opening and closing only. When i ssh to server from local network at workplace - via putty or native ssh - it works without any problems. I can do anything. But from home I can only login.
Gnome sessions started hanging during login on a debian lenny box, and I can only think it's related to a recent package update as it was working fine before the last set. It affects all user accounts and hangs before the applications menu or any icons appear on the panels, but after after the top /bottom panels and the desktop background appears.
I'm trying to create a new gdm session in tty8, so I can switch between tty7 and tty8 running simultaneously.
How can I accomplish this? I found some website suggesting to run startx and also startx gnome-session -- :1 vt8 Both result in a black screen, blocking the overall system, not allowing me to go to tty1 nor any tty. I have to run REINSUB to restart the system.
# I don't know if tty is the exact term to refer to the CTRL+ALT+Fx virtual terminals.
