CentOS 5 Hardware :: Dell Monitor 1909W Is Not Supported During Install

Feb 24, 2010

I am now installing the CentOS5.4 with a DVD on a Windows machine. The video card is ATI Radeon HD 3450, and monitor is Dell 1909W. During the install, after recognizing the ATI card, and starting the xserver, the screen came up with a message saying: " The current input timing is not supported by the monitor display. Please change your input timing to 1440X900@60Hz or any other monitor listed timing as per the monitor specification. "

However, in Windows XP the monitor is configured as 1440X900@60Hz, which works well. Due to this problem, the GUI installation cannot proceed. And how can I fix this problem if I manage to install in the text mode.

OpenSUSE Install :: 11.3 - External Monitor On Dell Laptop - Picture Blurry

This is the output of xrandr:

It runs on 2048x1152 full resolution, however, the picture on the monitor is blurry, it vibrates and looks like old TV with interlacing.

I tried to disable output to LVDS screen on laptop using xrandr but it doesn't help/

Previously I had HP laptop with integrated Intel and OpenSuse 11.0 and the external screen worked normally.

Fedora Hardware :: External Monitor Not Detected - Dell Laptop - Monitor

Aug 17, 2011

My software and hardware information are as follows. I have Fedora 12 and KDE 4.4.5 installed on a Dell Vostro 1500 laptop. I believe it's a 64 bit processor; it's an Intel Core 2 Duo CPU. The external monitor is a Dell as well.

My problem is that my system does not seem to be detecting an external monitor that I have connected. Everything else is working just fine; however, I would like to have the option of attaching an external monitor. When I plug the external monitor into the laptop, the external monitor remains black and appears to be in power save mode. The results of xrandr -q (with or without the external monitor attached: it doesn't appear to change) are as follows.

Code:

How can I get my laptop to recognize that the external monitor is even connected? Let me know if I can be more specific or provide additional details.

Ubuntu :: Gateway FPD 1500 Monitor Not Supported

Apr 22, 2010

I was running Ubuntu 8.10 on what used to be a server & is now serving as a stand-alone Ubuntu machine. It's got an MSI motherboard with a Pentium 4 3.2 Ghz processor & 2 Gig RAM. The video card has DVI & VGA outputs & this is where the problem begins. The monitor is a Gateway FPD 1500 1024x768 flat panel & originally appeared not to be supported by Ubuntu but I discovered if I simultainously connected both the flat panel via DVI and my shared VGA monitor (the VGA monitor serves another Linux box and an old WIN 98 machine via a switching box) I could get the display to first show on the VGA and after login it would appear properly on both. But as support for 8.10 is ending I upgraded to 9.10 via the update manager.

Now if I try to boot up using either the DVI Gateway flan panel alone or with it and the VGA connected, the machines hangs after login. However, if I disconnect the the DVI Gatteway monitor, the machine boots normally. Obviously, the necessary driver was removed during the upgrade but I can't find a Ubuntu driver for this monitor & connection type, does this mean I am stuck with it like this? I would prefer to use the flat panel as the picture is easier on the eyes and the VGA monitor is needed for other machines. I also tried a DVI to VGA adaptor and it wouldn't work meaning the monitor is DVI only.

I have tried to look up the error but can't find any information on it.

General :: Input Not Supported Message When Monitor Is Powered Off Then Back On?

Mar 27, 2010

I've been getting a message on my monitor where "Input not supported" is floating around. This only happens when I manually turn the monitor off and then later turn it back on. Leaving the monitor on and allowing it to go to the screen saver doesn't seem to cause the issue (but I prefer to turn the monitor off if I'm going to be away from the computer for any length of time).

Specs:
Acer X203w monitor
Radeon 9600 Pro Video card
Linux Mint 8 (Helena)
Resolution 1680 x 1050 (16:10 - Preferred native resolution for the monitor)
Refresh Rate 60hz

[Code]...

I just had it happen again. I tried unplugging the DVI cable from the back of the computer and then plugging it back in. The monitor then displayed the desktop properly. I'm not sure if that makes a difference or not in what I may need to change settings-wise.

CentOS 5 Hardware :: Unable To Install Graphic Card Driver For Dell Precision T3500?

Jul 28, 2010

I have recently installed Centos. During the installation, I noticed that only sound was being tested during the installation. Once everything has been installed successfully. I can run Centos with no problem. However, when I tried to switch from one window (browser) to another. The display was slow. Thus, I suspected the driver for the graphic card of my PC is not being installed successfully. When I type /sbin/lspci | grep VGA in the terminal, I get the following output:

02:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation Unknown device 06fd (rev a1)
03:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation Unknown device 06fd (rev a1)

Then, I went to the dell support & driver site to download the driver. In the readme file, it is suggested to install dkms first before installing the graphics driver by typing rpm -ivh dkms-2.1.0.1-1.noarch.rpm

I managed to install the dkms without any error. However, when I use rpm to install the graphics driver as suggested by the readme file:
rpm -ivh dell-nvidia-190.42-1dkms_rhel5.3.x86_64.rpm

I get the following errors: error: Failed dependencies:
libX11.so.6()(64bit) is needed by dell-nvidia-190.42-1dkms_rhel5.3.x86_64
libXext.so.6()(64bit) is needed by dell-nvidia-190.42-1dkms_rhel5.3.x86_64[code]....

Since the above errors may be related to the missing packages then I use yum provides and install to find the missing packages. Even I try to install all the matched packages, i still cant install the driver for my graphic card. To be honest, i am not very sure whether I am doing the right things or not. how to solve this slow display problem when switching from one application to another.

Hardware :: Dell LCD Monitor Slow When Using Console?

Aug 5, 2010

The 14" (pretty sure of the size) LCD monitor is hooked up with "digital input" (not the VGA or whatever). I tend to use the console (i.e. ttyX) more than X windows, and it is extremely slow refreshing. A concrete example is opening a man page, or cat-ing a file go so slow it takes a second or 2 for them to fully display.

Is this a video driver issue? Here are some stats:

OpenSUSE Hardware :: Dell Monitor Not Updating Properly

Aug 1, 2011

I have a dell monitor, E153FPf, with an intel chipset 865G. I just changed from Debian to Open Suse 11.4. In Debian, everything worked fine. However, with Suse, every time I open a new window in Gnome, the screen will flash at about a 1 Hz rate, showing the new window, and then immediately revert to the previously displayed window.

If I change to a different workspace, and then change back again, the display works properly . . . until I open or close a new application window.I made sure YaST2 had the correct refresh and resolution; I downloaded and installed the latest Intel drivers, I enabled the correct horizontal and vertical refresh rates in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/50-Monitor.conf - all to no avail. I have searched around for answers, but most of the issues seem to be with monitors not working at all - not new or closed applications not refreshing the screen properly.

Ubuntu :: Dell E173FP Monitor Cannot Display Video

The monitor is a Dell E173FPb.From digging about on google it seems I need to edit the xorg.conf file? However, it doesn't exist in the /etc/X11 directory. Does wubi not create this file?

I then created a template of this xorg.conf with the "sudo X -configure" command. I then copied the created file to /etc/X11/xorg.conf and editied the Monitor settings. however, I still get the same error even when I put in the HorizSync and VerRefresh settings shown on the Dell webpage (31-80 and 56-76 respectively).
